Two fallen travellers were laid to rest by the staff of the Friendly Arms. Attention to the pair had been drawn by passing woodlanders, wizards and other assorted adventuring groups. These events inspired some exploration of the forest by variously motivated groups. Changes to the forest were noted and dangerous paths explored. Nothing was learned of the fallen duo and their fate lies in the hands of another. (DM)

The Mysterious Affair by the Inn

Disturbing rumours of tieflings freely roaming the outskirts of the Inn attract an infamous Dwarven demon hunter ready to watch and study their malicious behaviour in their seemingly natural habitat. Ever vigilant and expert in stealthiness, he follows the suspicious creature’s every move, his prey completely oblivious to his silent bearded nemesis hidden in plain sight right behind his back. The watch bears quite expected fruit, it seems.

In just a few hours time, the tiefling completely exposes his evil ways, casting foul magic spells and admitting to possession of a bow with its string made of elven hair, undoubtedly taken from some poor victim. “Now I ain’t got no love fer em bloody leaf-licking twig-sucking bark-sniffing stump-humping basterds, ye know, but that shady fella ain’t right in his horny head, alright”, the renowned warrior eagerly shared his thoughts on what he had learnt from the encounter. What’s worse, the tiefling and his accomplice seem to have assaulted a traveller right by the gates of the Inn, threatening to cut his manhood off and take his eyes. “I kid ye not, me lad, em bloody demonspawn buggers said they’d tingle that poor fella’s berries and gouge his eyes out, alright. Tis what em hellish basterds do to ye. Ye can never trust that cursed lot”.

Curiously enough, the dwarf seems to be a wanderer of many talents, a skald known all over the Sword Coast. Thus, he also shares his plans to devote a ballad to far too many teiflings he’d encountered in his travels. “Can’t keep it in me no longer, lad. Sometimes ye had to reflect on darker sides of life, ye know? Like being a tiefling and all. Em folks must know.” The sorrowful ballad yet to come seems to have a title already, “Me poor tiefling boy”. Only time will tell what epic verses are to be heard by good honest folk of the Sword Coast coming from our renowned hero.

From the accounts of the dwarf in question eagerly shared by him after half a dozen of pints of ale

Strange things started to happen around Friendly Arm Inn. Storm clouds filled the sky and time started to slow. Word got around quickly about an arctic troll making an appearance outside the Friendly Arm Inn. He claimed to be a messenger on behalf of Agnosh, master of storms. People are to prepare for hardship. A woman in white tried to pry the troll for more information about this Agnosh, but the troll remained steadfast in the delivery of his message. Suddenly the troll charged the woman in white and started to attack. The woman, and other adventurers surrounding her immediately sprung into action, casting spells and throwing fire and acid at the creature. Within seconds, the troll turned into slush. The immediate threat was gone, but the threat of oncoming hardships lingered in the air, possibly a warning of what was to come.

ATTENTION!

May it be known that from the 24th of Alturiak, 1359 to the 4th of Ches, 1359, three individuals are banned from entering Friendly Arm Inn's grounds.

Below, a description of such individuals:

A blue-cloaked human arcanist by the name "Drin"

A dark-haired and thin elven arcanist by the name "Oth"

A red-haired woman that wields a halberd and wears a fox mask.

If any see individuals matching the descriptions inside the Inn's grounds while within the date mentioned, please report to the authorities with proof. A reward in gold will be granted.
Winter is coming... Or something like that, idk, you get the joke

A Joyous Celebration in the Cloakwoods

Deep in the Cloakwoods the sounds of seelie could be heard screaming through the night, as some of the woods more infamous creatures rejoiced in the events of the last few evenings. Quicklings laughed and giggled as pixies were plucked out of the air and dismantled. Their tiny wings could be found scattered around the snowy floor in splotches of a ruby spray. Many of the animals could be seen fleeing from the depths of the Cloakwoods. Those that make the trek through the forest will be greeted by the gory sight of headless satyrs and the majestic corpse of a unicorn stripped of its skin. Each of the bodies lay desecrated and repeatedly wounded.

Since recent events, matters have seemed to gone from terrible to worse. Few have come to visit the Cloakwood, and even fewer have returned. The fear stands as this is only the beginning, as the shadow druids of the region are rumored to meeting more frequently in the last tenday.

The High Ranger rarely allowed herself to be seen in the woods lately. Though, those who knew what to look for would be able to find her. She moves quietly, watching. . .mourning. She helps where she can when she can. Those who see her outside of the forest might note she looks beyond weary and her amber eyes flash with more anger than she usually allows herself to express.

An obvious druid draped in green robes and carrying a distinctive club prowls silently in the Cloakwood far from danger. For there in this secluded part of the forest there is apparently little to see of the troubles reported elsewhere. The sun shines and trees are planted as normal and the terrible ire reported by others appears not to be there for now. He takes the opportunity to share warnings with those animals grazing peacefully of the risks elsewhere. He watches for fey. Eventually he slips away. Later to re-emerge reassuringly at the Friendly Arms.

During the dark hours of the night, three women are seen just inside the border of the Cloakwood forest. Two of them standing guard while the third; a wych of Rashemaar conducts what appears to be a ritual. Having drawn a ritual circle of silver filings and salts, she protects the following offerings from evil. Only intended for the Seelie to benefit from.

The offeringings themselves carry more symbology than obvious use. Life, death and magic. A heap of Bloodstunch, a vial of black widow poison, one of a black dragon's blood and finally a potion of Heal. With this, a prayer to Khelliara is spoken, the Rashemen name for Mielikki. Appropriate given the recent death of the unicorn in the forest. Whether or not this will change anything remains to be seen, but the message is clear that there are those who wish to help bring balance back to the forest.

Long Expected Visitors

Deep in the Cloakwoods, strange shadowy figures move around under the tall canopy. They carry pale yellow lights with them where ever they go. The group of strangers stop for no one, and speak not a word. They Travel quietly from the Cloakwoods to the woods of Sharpteeth. While spotted near civilization they travel through a gaseous form.

Kyl had just arrived at the entrance to the Friendly Arms Inn to Meet his friend Xorgraeol. He approached him with a polite greeting, but he seemed to be deep in thought. Before Kyl could get his attention, he turned to see what appeared to be another Xorgraeol. Kyl was quite confused as he had no way of knowing which one was the real Xorgraeol. After a few questions Kyl determined which, one was the real Xorgraeol and the imposter reviled itself to be a pixie.

After talking with the pixie for some time, the pixie offered us a reward if we could answer it's riddle. Xorgraeol was the first to try and answer the riddle but failed. I had no idea and just guessed at the answer. Needless to say, I was wrong as well. After failing to correctly answer the pixies riddle, she teleported me to some unknown place with all my armor scattered about. I was quickly informed that I was at the shop in Nashkel, as I quickly put my armor back on and left the shop not knowing what had happened to Xorgraeol.

A possible threat!

Image

"A berk called "Man of Storms is plannin' on attackin' the Friendly Arms Inn with a bunch of giants soon!
Not confirmed yet, but might be wise te pass the word along to th' men-at-arms!"

Those were the words delivered to Bentley today, warning about a possible army of giants heading toward the Friendly Arm Inn. Wether it is true or not, it does sound like something is brewing in the South. People indeed should be even more careful walking along the streets, and let people know should something out of the ordinary happens on the Trade Way and on the Way of the Lion.
It is rumored it was a courier alongside a relatively known bardess with a hat to deliver such messages.
Some people say it was just the courier, other people that it was the bardess, others instead were absolutely certain it was a man with rags for clothes to deliver this message. Wether it is true or false, it's now clear that the Friendly Arms Inn safety might be threatened.

Rumour tentatively spreads from the Friendly Arms inn along the tradeway. A woman fell to her death from the rooftop of the Friendly Arms Inn. It was said the event in question preceded with distraught petitioning toward some unknown assailant on the rooftop. The patrons are questioned, and the guards look upon newcomers with hawkish demeanor.

Bentleys guard are uncharacteristically setting out from the Keep on occasion, and the inn owner is looking for any offer of information in addition.

Bentley is open to hire adventurers to the cause.

Several adventurers investigating the alleged murder of a Friendly Arm’s Inn patron would eventually deduce the woman was likely pushed from the roof the Inn by an assailant that teleported to and from the scene of the crime. With the assistance of a mage willing to lend her expertise the investigative team traced the destination of the assailant’s teleport to the coast off Candlekeep where they found a mist of Dimensional Lock however no trace of a subsequent teleport was detected which led to various speculations of how the alleged assailant made their escape. With only the name of the victim known the investigative team would turn their focus to her background.

A report is submitted to Bentley by Matron Netanya of House Divine stipulating the aforementioned findings and the current focus of the investigation.

The morning after the murder, a ranger with long brunette hair stopped in for her usual chat with Bentley. She stayed a bit longer than usual, ordering a Luskan Black as they chatted. She might have later been seen leaving the inn and stepping into a tree outside it's walls.

An unorthodox druid from the north, known by some as Ran'll has been seen in recent days out of place in the southern region. Some may have viewed him caught in conversation with the leaders of the Green Enclave regarding issues in the Cloakwood, while others might have spied him out in the Cloakwood itself, re-familiarizing himself with paths not walked by the old man in a long, long time.
