Conclusions

“I have come to the conclusion,
after many years of sometimes sad experience,
that you cannot come to any conclusion at all.”

Image

"How yer been ?"

Well. . . imagine the ugliest woman you can. And fattest. So fat, her belly touches the ground. . . . then add teeth to that belly. And make the woman three times my height. That's what we fought today.

"I'd think I would had ran off...blimey ..that fat with teeth on her belly? That surely had to been an horrid sight."

It was pretty awful. But the fey issues should be over.

If I was to put my imagination to the tales of drinking patrons, I'd surely have a difficult time with most tales. I've seen plenty of strange beasts and creatures in the Sword Coast. But what is that fat as described by the Guardian of the woods, with teeth upon its belly? Normally I would write such things off as a drunkard's tale, but this was the Archdruid of the Green Enclave. And drunk does not come to him with a goblet of Luskan Dark Ale.

Image

There's a bit of blight left over, but it's not spreading, and we should be able to heal it.

Hm? Did the trouble in Cloakwood conclude at last?

I was just telling Sel about what was causing the issues.

Ugly woman, so fat that her belly touched the ground. Three times my height, and with teeth on her belly. She seemed to be inside the Laughing Tree, controlling it.

Sounds like a hag.

"Worst than that really"

Not sure what it was. I've never encountered anything that was like this before.

"It wouldnt be related to the death of the woman at the FAI would it?

I don't have any reason to believe it is.

Ah, I have heard something the other day regarding that murder at Friendly Arms Inn. Though I am not sure how reliable this information is since it was Kargas who told me about it.

Woman was thrown from the top of the inn. Several people tried to chase down the culprit, but they teleported, then locked the location they teleported to.

But like many other tales, not always will their be a concluded ending. The murder at the Friendly Arms Inn still remains an unsolved case. One threat that comes to an end is always short lived in the Sword Coast. There's still unsolved murders within the city of Baldurs, a bounty for a weapon in Beregost, people in searched of lost treasures but in a race against the forces of evil. And then there's still the activity in the North. Are there enough adventures that care enough to see to the conclusion of these tales or string of events? Only time will tell really. Some people cant be bothered for such things, others naught know the path in where to start. Others simply don't care. But regardless of the conclusion of these tales or not, I will continue serving a goblet made of blown glass that rests upon these fancy stems. After all, goblet needs to be filled, and goblet coin is goblet coin.

Sorrow's or Opportunity

Image
"A Captain doesn't think about life or death,
he thinks about saving his ship"
The sign of a good leader is easy to recognize, though it is hardly ever seen. For the greatest leaders are those who share as equals in the trials and struggles, the demands and expectations, the hills and trenches, the laws and punishments placed upon the backs of those governed. A great leader is motivated not by power but by compassion. Therefore he can do nothing but make himself a servant to those whom he rules. Such a leader is unequivocally respected, and loved for loving.

"Home is where the,
Anchor drops"
When word reaches the Broken Goblet about the end of High Captain "Pious" Rensby Caine, many goblets filled with ale or rum would be spike with sorrow or thoughts of opportunity. From cheers and tales to what ever deeds "Pious" accomplished, to the greedy selfish talks about filling in the vacant seat. Such is the way of the Shore. But nevertheless, a High Captain down, a crew that likely drowned. The remaining High Captains must have a lot to parley about. But whom ever makes an attempt to fill the seat will be needin to come with the three requirements, and any short comings will likely result with a fist to the face if not gutted down like fish out of water.
“It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.”
Image
"The king and his men
Stole the queen from her bed
And bound her in her bones
The seas be ours
And by the powers
Where we will, we'll roam

Yo, ho, all together
Hoist the colors high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars
Never shall we die..

Some men have died
And some are alive
And others sail on the sea
– With the keys to the cage...
And the Devil to pay
We lay to Fiddler's Green!"
When patrons asked the calmishite bartender of the Broken Goblet, what he thought about the news of High Captain "Pious" Rensby Caine, he would say to them...
"They say the captain goes down with the ship, and that makes the best of captains.
I wonder if and when the world ends, will the Gods go down with it?"
Image
"To High Captain Rensby "Pious" Caine! A toast to ye, may yer rum never end, and may yer sail to the open arms of the Bitch Queen!"
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Among the grievers and revelers sits a solitary, stony-faced youth, his cup filled with libation for the dead instead of the usual goat's milk. His elegy is short: "May your voyage be swift, High Captain. Rest knowing your death at the hands of Alliance dogs will be paid back a thousandfold."

Haunted House, Ghosts oh My...

The bartender of the Broken Goblet returned to the Shore after business and work in the Gates. After being freshened up and made a goblet of rum, he put up a flyer written by himself in a not so elegant hand writing and pinned it upon the wall where patrons would be able to see it.
Lookin to make twen'te bags of coins? There be a Noble in the Gates named Lord Eugene Denton seeking experts in Hauntings, Exorcisms, Ghosts. Be a good chance fer good coins and maybe other babbles in a nobles home! But one bag to the bartender fer sharein such information! And dont yer go bring'n back something haunting in the Goblet!

Tales Never Ending

“We travel, some of us forever,
to seek other lands,
other realms, other lives, other souls.“

Image

The most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what's in between, sometimes there's great pleasure in doing just that. Some roads are old to me. I've lost count of how many times my boots walked upon them, but indeed I've walked upon them for over a decade. Even as I grow older and feel more tired, I still at times walking those very roads. Many faces I see are new to me, but not so new. Often times I see older faces from years long ago upon their very shoulders. They remind me of the youthful days of adventures and explorations.

Image

A band of friends, a company of hero's, the gathering of evil's, uncharted lands, secrets revealed and treasure to find, they were all part of an emotional tale. Yet even as the time passes, tales continue on through life and dead. Rejoice comes when familiarity presents itself, sorrow to troubling memories. Not everyone are able to remain. Slowly as the hands of time persist, we lose those close to us one by one. Some seek other worlds, others no longer have the energy, few we had to bury.

Image

But the tale's never end. However sometimes deep within the fog of time, one of those long lost or forgotten faces returns. Excitement can be an overwhelming thing, troubles and worries lifted making the day seem new. The air suddenly feels fresh as if it was the first time you breathed it in. And with the old, claps arms with the new. And a new band arises and the adventure continues. Thus the way of the cycle . It is as it was, how it is, and how it forever will be. More adventures will take fruit! And the tales will continue! If a patron every asked the bartender of the Broken Goblet what he thought in regards to the old days to he new, he would say to you...

Image

“ I have been finding treasures in places I did not want to search. I have been hearing wisdom from tongues I did not want to listen. I have been finding beauty where I did not want to look. And I have learned so much from journeys I did not want to take. You don't get the quest you wanted, you got the one you could do. And so long as the world turns, there will be more waiting for you."

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

The Broken Goblet Tarsakh 1359 DR

“Any fool can know...
The point is to understand.”
Image
THE BROKEN GOBLET:

When pirates and lawless folk come to brawl and carouse, their first thought is to roll into the Goblet swords drawn, and swagger as they promenade along the raised entry dais and down toward the bar. It's the place to be seen and the place to be killed in, if the body count of the last few years is any indication. Don't go here unless you're very good with a blade, alert, have a lot of well-armed friends with you, and are protected against poisons.

A spell such as ironguard is an ideal protection here, but beware, this place is strongly warded, and the defenses permit only existing defensive spells to continue. Newly cast spells are twisted and lost, without effect. The defenses also whisk all missiles (hurled glasses, daggers, darts, bolts, and arrows alike) up into gentle contact with the ceiling. This prevents broken glasses for drink is served here in ornately carved and blown glasses, some of which are exquisitely beautiful, and rather more of which are simply rude.

Image
THE PLACE:

The Goblet consists of a dark taproom with stone floors, massive wooden support pillars and furnishings (trestle tables, wall benches, and high-backed wooden chairs), and candle lamps. The latter can be raised and lowered on chains via ceiling pulleys and from hooks located behind the bar, and consist of wagon wheels that each support a circle of seven to nine fat candles, each set in a buckler to catch the melted wax. A favorite trick during a brawl is to leap behind the bar and undo the hooks, sending the heavy lamps plummeting down atop the tables. The danger of fire makes this tactic grounds for ejection dead or alive.

The staff here go armed with daggers, boot knives, and steel knuckle spikes. Overly amorous patrons are warned that the large men with many scars are large men with many scars, but the buxom wenches with the long lashes and ready smiles are doppelgangers. They often respond to overly familiar touches with a dagger strike and a shift in the form of one hand into a loose curtain of flesh that can be slapped over a patron's face to smother or blind him! The street door is guarded by two house guards with orders to keep it clear so that access is denied to none. Brawls are thus prevented from erupting on the way in and out the door and harming trade. This has the effect of allowing each patron to make a grand entrance on the raised entry dais, which overlooks the taproom from behind a safety rail. A trophy of a long-ago brawl decorates this smoothed oak tree-trunk railing: A black-bladed battle axe split the rail in two and crashed down to bury itself haft-deep in the edge of the floor beneath. Its owner did not live long enough to get it free so the proprietors of the tavern left it there as a warning.

From the taproom, shadowy stairs lead down to jakes (a dangerous place known for stabbings and impromptu body disposals, with
direct connections to the tidal sewers) and up to private drinking rooms, some of which have sliding panels offering egress to side alleys. Lighting is
always scanty in the Goblet, and ghostpipes spell provides gentle background music to cover most conversations from casual eavesdropping.

THE PROSPECT:

There are constant rumors that the staff and ownership of the Goblet are not human and consist of beings far more deadly than the doppleganger wenches. Most folk believe that some fell power runs the tavern. Its wardings are certainly strong, and spells have been deflected from them that hurled back or slew large mercenary attacking forces sent to cleanse or raid Roaringshore. (Those bearing a ward token can cast spells within the tavern.) The truth, according to one Harper, is that illithids rule this tavern and use their powers to gather information about the illicit doings of the Sword Coast from the guests who come here.

The only knowledge or rumor about who owns the Broken Goblet is an human elderly looking woman name Miss "Jackie". And she prefers goat milk instead of alcohol, and she's most angry when any of her precious goblets or furniture is broken. The Bartender can quote her very words in regards ..
"Look here boy, I can care less if someone's neck gets broken so long as my furniture doesn't!"

The Goblet sells no food, but patrons can bring in all they like. One free glass per patron per evening is included in drink prices.

TRAVELER'S LORE:

The anonymous owners of the Goblet keep many treasure maps, wills, and written deals hidden in vaults for pirates, who pay 100 gp per page for long storage. The items are stored from when they are left until they are retrieved by the surrender of a symbolic key (usually a brass token). Rumor has it that the tokens look like brass sea shells, but no one has ever been able to definitively prove this.

A BARTENDER'S WORD:

A lot of times some people come to the seek one of the bartenders of the Broken Goblet to hear the latest of rumors or acquire knowledge of something in particular. Some people dare not to come to the village of Roaringshore to seek such things, and alas it has been said knowledge is power. For any patron that asks this particular bartender what he thought about daring people that come to the Shore and seek out knowledge. He would tell them...
Image
“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”

((OOC Notes: I know I am slacking some, but I had the loving feeling of the toolset. I am finished now and no projects to do and shall be made more available. But then again..you have to catch my time zone :P))
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Unlikely Visits

“ Beauty is more than skin deep;
it issues from the core of one's being
and shows one's fair or foul face to the world.”
— A Sunite saying

Image

Sune- was the greater goddess of beauty and passion in the Faerûnian pantheon. Lady Firehair, as her symbol depicted, was the goddess of beauty in all its forms; whether it be sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feels, the experience of pleasure was the touch of Sune. The Lady of Love was the goddess of all love, including the more negative aspects like obsessions, murderous passions, and the tragedies that could be born from love, but also of deeper connections, of matches destined and forbidden, as well the transformation of ugliness into beauty.

Sune's clerics sought to bring beauty to the world in many forms, all of which were pleasing to the senses. They created great works of art, became patrons for promising actors, and imported exotic luxuries like satin and fine wines. Her followers also enjoyed looking beautiful, and hearing tales of romance. The stories ranged from star-crossed love, true love overcoming all else, to following one's heart. The negative aspects of love, as would be expected, were downplayed and kept from public view in the interest of making the faith welcoming for all. And one such worshipper came into the Broken Goblet.

Image

A woman once invited, a woman whos now a patron. She wasn't an elf so there was no risk of ridicule for the local pirates wouldnt see her as a means for coinage. But her crimson tailored armor and bright hair with blue eyes would certainly cause the locals heads to turn with a curious wonder. It has only been familiar faces that came to stop by the tavern for a word or a drink. The question however is what did this person seek, by coming to the Goblet.

Much like how darkness cannot drive out darkness, where only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, for only love can do that. With a goblet made of blown glass and Neverwinter mead filling the vessel, conversations had continued about the life of a believer of Sune, and life within the Gates. I'm quite sure this person of Love and Beauty had wondered is there love in the Shore.

*The bartender grins after the patron made her leave with memories filling his head*
*Aye, there been plenty ol' luv in the Shore, and even in the Broken Goblet.*

Even Love,
Image
Finds its way,
Image
In the lawless place,
Image
called Roaringshore.
Image

If a patron ever asked the bartender of the Broken Goblet what he thought about love, he'd tell you...

“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable.
It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.”
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Loyalty

“It gives me strength to have somebody to fight for;
I can never fight for myself, but, for others, I can kill.”

Image

Friends

When you have a good friend that really cares for you and tries to stick in there with you, dont treat them like nothing. Learn to be a good friend because one day you're gonna look up and say I lost a good friend. Learn how to be respectful to your friends, don't just start arguments with them and don't tell them the reason, always remember your friends will be there quicker than your family, well most of the times. Learn to remember you got great friends, don't forget that and they will always care for you no matter what. Always remember to smile and look up at what you got in life.

Image

Family

When it comes to family, you don't choose your family. They are the God's gift to you, as you are to them. The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Family is not an important thing. It's everything. Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

Image

Lover's

I would think being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Is can be said time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity. To love for the sake of being loved is human, but to love for the sake of loving is sacred. True love is eternal yes, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations, it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart. But not everyone will have the blessing to feel such a thing.

Image

Here within my possession do I read this "Big Book of Loyalty" with a map along side it. It tells the tale of a man who was split between family and friends and acquaintances. Not all men are the same as he, nor will everybody ever make the choices he did. In fact as I read upon the pages of the book, sometimes I feel I can related, other times I feel that I cant. He choose what I did not. If I and this man sat in the same room, countless candles would burn while battling with each others deference in opinions. Yet what I find very humorous , is that we both lost the same thing. I am not sure about this man, but I intend to find what I lost. By any means necessary.

Image

"I will search the entire coast if I must. You shall return to me one way or another."

"Land was created to provide a place for ships to visit.
A dock ain't a dock without it's ships."

Image

If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea. People prove things are possible all the time. People who use the words can’t, and won’t work, and impossible are small thinkers. They like to hold people back and they get pleasure out of flexing their authority muscle. But when you’ve had contrived power for a while it taints your decision making. You feel like you’re a better leader than reality would dictate. This is building someone up for a magnificent fall.
Be very careful when using the phrase, “that’s impossible”. You’ll most likely be proven wrong in time.

The best thing a working man could do, is offer work for the men that dont. You give someone something to do, you help put flood on the table for families. In due time your efforts are acknowledge no matter the type of person you seem to be. People respect you, people admire you, and people thank you. Thus soon the foundations of loyalty take fruit.

After a transaction, the bartender would keep close tabs on hired hands as they build a ship in the Shore. Nothing as big and well equipped to those of the normal ones in around Roaringshore. But a ship nevertheless and a place to call a home.

"What you gon'a name her?"

*The blueprint is held up and appraised carefully in its design*

"Oh she's been named, but I will not speak of it now . I will await its completion."

Goblet All Night Long!

"Do you still bartend at the Goblet?
Now wit kinda bloody question is that?
Me goblets stay fill'd, ta patrons thirst quenched,
and I still have stories ta tell"

Image

Storytelling in general is a communal act. Throughout human history, people would gather around, whether by the fire or at a tavern, and tell stories. One person would chime in, then another, maybe someone would repeat a story they heard already but with a different spin. It's a collective process.
In the Broken Goblet we have our own process.

Image

Rumors to spread, tales to tell, goblets to fill, and plenty of thighs to reveal! People wonder just what we do in the Broken Goblet. Why such the silly question me wonder. Tis a bloody tavern in the nestled village of Roaringshore. Where Pirates and smugglers come to carouse and drink their life away, where women of all kinds dance and put on a show!

Image

Where cursed words o'plenty and the smell of ale heavy. A gatherin for the locals, and travelers alike, from the North and even from the South. The more that comes the better the commerce. A place to meet a real Captain, and harden brutes and even sassy idiots. And they all have a common thing they do when they enter the Broken Goblet. They drink!

Image

As I spend my night watching the carousing and cheers, or the dancing skirts or even the grunting face in the dark corners, I enjoy seeing that they are enjoyin somethin. Theres no fancy carpets, there's no plush furniture. But the Furniture in the Goblet is treated like the softest woman yer ever find. Specially the glass goblets.

Image

A eye can be blacken, a nose can bleed, bones can be crushed or even broken. And patrons will cheer and consider it a worthy show. Just do it outside or in the pit or get tossed out or shoved down the grate. Some heard the tales of the Broken Goblet and wonder if they can pay it a visit. Well of course they can. So long as they bring their coins and not have pointy ears. Cause then there's the risk of pirates wanting to capture them and sale them off to calmishite slavers. What can I say, the lads need to be fed, and I ain't one to come inbetween a dog an its meal. Hell's even the local dogs in the Shore has tasted man flesh, as well as the crows that pecks at the hanging violators of the Shore.

Image

All be well if yer respect the village and dont go insulting the locals, or yer likely to get shanked or beaten to a pulp. Because Roaringshore laws are no laws. A place of free men and woman that is run by the High Captains. And be warn wit ye, there be plenty other's and their crews. And things like raid, piracy, and plunder is the fun things they do.

Image

Keep the word of wisdom to mind, and visit the Goblet during the late evenin times. And yer be sure to drink from the finest glass yer ever laid yer eyes on. Cause only the goblets made from blown glass that rests upon a pretty metal of silver or gold with elegant craftsmanship of a bellowing Dragon or a rising Krakan that sinking a ship. Sometimes they even have a more bawdy design like a mermaid entwined with a naked sailor.

High Captain Business

Image

"Under a black flag we sail and the sea shall be our empire,
Obey the captain or learn to swim,
May your anchor be tight, your cork be loose,
your rum be spiced and your compass be true."

The bartender put up a notice where anyone who had entered the Broken Goblet would see it. The words were clear, and mimic'd to that of which was posted by the High Captains themselves. The Bartender knew that particular night, the Shore would be filled with busy streets, and the taverns filled. He made his way to head to different places, and markets ordering barrels, casks, and kegs of Ale and Rum and other favored drinks for some of the frequent customers, because he knew there will be plenty of patrons that day.

Image

"I need kegs, no barrels..yes give me barrels of ale, wine, whiskey oh and rum."

"Sounds like yer throwin a big party."

"Oh not I mate, the High Captains callin for a gatherin, I merely ensuring I fill the goblets. After all, goblet coins is goblet coins, savvy?"

"Yer reject of a seal, the High Captain's probably have a bunch of elves to sacrifice again."

"Hmm, not my concern mate, I just need to make sure they all got something to drink." *He quickly waved flicked his hand dismissively twice* " Have my order ready by the morrow!."

Image

A pirate is a robber who travels by water. Pirates mostly targeted other ships but in some cases, they also attacked coastal towns and cities. Our assumption of pirates is someone who is a swashbuckling, brutish, and perhaps an evil person, whereas, in reality, they were just normal people who turned to a life of crime to make ends meet. And within the village of Roaringshore, no matter whom it be, pirates, smugglers, or thieves, or race, culture or creed, we all hoist the black flag.

Spillin' Goblet's!

"May your anchor be tight, your cork be loose,
your rum be spiced and your compass be true.
Loot is first and wimmen second.
Because if ye have the first ye’ll have the second,
but if ye have the second ye won’t have the first for long!"

Image

On the 29th Tarsakh 1359 DR, Roaringshore had seen many travelers and locals on the streets heading to the known tavern called the Broken Goblet. The spread of word and the notice of the High Captains summons for a gathering reached to the South and the North. One of the known bartenders of the Goblet had spent a half of a tenday in ordering supplies for he knew, a gathering would surely happen. Its not new to him, how the Goblet would often be filled with patrons. But this very night, it was just filled, it was spilling!

Image

And what better way to start off a filled and spilling night of the Broken Goblet than a fight! How many times must a patron be told? How many times must a bartender remind patrons...dont come into the Shore thinking you can insult pirates. Not even the tavern can save you from the hurtin you'll get if not worse for such stupidity.

"Good place to raise your half elf babies while you make a mockery of Umberlee."

*..a fist lashed outward, bearing at the mans bald skull...*

"I'ma kill ye, ye poof!..Outside!"

"Dont ferget yer drink Captain!"

Image

*In a short moment later*

"Anglo won. Knocked his balls off. "

"That sounds painful."

"Wouldnt expect anything less of the Captain."

Image

*The pirates of Roaringshore promptly shut their mouths about elf loving captains.*

"Gods I love the Shore"

Image

The patrons caroused, strangers quiet and observing, and a bartender busy at work providing drinks to keep the goblets filled and coins coming. But if someone thought the night ended there...they surely aint know a bloody thing about the Shore! The moment came that which most had arrive for. The entrance of the High Admiral Cyrano "The Black Stag" Ambrosio and High Captain Jon "The Puppet" Emerald! What a sight that some were able to lay eyes on High Captains. Tis like meeting the Dukes of Baldurs Gate. The tavern be filled with other Captains and their closest crewmembers, along with frequent patrons and known travelers from the South, and North and even the dark depths below.

Image

*The High Admiral walks past everyone, not paying them any attention. He had the same gruff and harden face as all the other Captains. Making his strut to the makeshift stage made of salvage planks and broken barrels ((Shout out to you Lux!)). He stepped upon it with no fear and full of confident of a man and raised his voice loudly so that all within the Broken Goblet would hear his words.*

"Forsaken sons and daughters of Baldur's Gate! Thieves, smugglers, robbers." *He, then raises his hand* "Pirates! You know why we all are here. Pious, The Bitch Queen's favourite- our one and only Rensby Cain was killed by the Waterdhavian dogs."

*Grunts and sneers and angry words were spat out after the statement*
"Death to Waterdeep!"

Image

"The high and mighty bastards of the Sword Coast that rule in Waterdeep and Baldur's Gate have taken from us yet another great Captain, terror of the seas..." *His eyes squint a little as he lets his right hand fall to his side* "And as always, they still yearn to be rid of us all. Us- people forced into these lives due to their greed, conspiracy and negligence. But in this life- we have found freedom. Strength. Power. We rose above all who ever mistreated us and showed them to never do so again."

*Cheers Applauds and hollers filled the tavern*
"Yer Damn Right!"

"A death of one of ours can only be repaid in blood to stain the waters! We will not stop with our way of life until all that we get what is rightfully ours! But before this, a Captain has to rise to the mantle of a High Captain. Only the most cunning and notorious pirate captain can join our ranks. As such! The crew's Captain who plunders the most wealth, sparks the most hatred by our enemies at the Waterdeep and the Gate, who's name will equal to Umberlee's Wrath, will become a High Captain! You all have five months to show who's the fiercest of you all. Kill, maim, pillage, destroy- I care not how you gain your wealth and reputation. Rise to the occasion or die trying."

Image

"May the best man win!"

*Claps and applauds filled the tavern once again! With pounding fists and whirling of blades and deafening chees and whistles!*

"So who wants to be part of my crew? I'll need a ship first"

"Join the club Solaris, I'm still waitin' on my fokin' ship"

"Frosty, yer aint even got a ship, yer aint got plunder, just go back to playin in the ice or sumthin hmm?"

"A hundred gold for each left hand delivered me by them that join my crew!"

"Sel! busy today"

"I'm always bloody busy"

Was it a day of filled Goblets? Nae I say, tis was a night of spilling Goblets...

Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet couldnt have been more happy than to see the amount of patrons that filled the tavern. But still even tho he had the honor to meet the highest of ranking pirates in the Shore, he didnt forget the subtle whispers that came to his ear.

Image

"Local fishing crew was complaining about a drinks. Said they had a plan for him because no loyalty. May want to leave early for work today."

"...overheard pirate captain saying they had plan for you. Better fall back a bit. Closer to back door."

"It appears one of the local captains plan something ill of me..more than likely after this is over..might be interesting nice..."

"..If anyone trying to hurt you, they gotta go through us first. Only we are allowed to kick your ass"

"...aww you all are so sweet... " *Grins*

"...Anything you want us to do?.."

"Of course...buy drinks" *He smiled then soon took his leave after further conversations*

"God's I love the Shore It must be a glorious thing To be a Pirate King."

The Sparrowhawk

"A ship in harbour is safe but thats not what ships are for."

Roaringshore, I've spent nearly a year there calling the pirate village my new home. Many would loathe at the place, but those are the ones not optimistic. It had been many years that I had passed through the cove, and had often gained nothing but harden glares. But such things I was use to it. I use to be a patron every once in awhile. Something about the stench of stale ale and gruff faces, and flirty lasses was what I had always thought interesting. Now I work for the same tavern, and I've called the Shore home, and spent many nights in the Swordarm Inn. But those blimey floating bodies had always bugged the shite out of me. And many times that I had walked to work, I would taken in the view of the ocean ahead. Vast the horizon was. Pirates crews and the love of their ships. In due time, even I became fancy for a ship. I had always wondered out of curiosity just why they loved their ships so much. So I decided to invest in one. Not fully equip like the many others that were off in the distance. But one I could make a home out of and maybe go on short voyages, to learn why they all loved the sea. And now, I understand.

Image

From bow to rudder, mass and a crows nest, the ship was being built, or should I say my house. Now I understand why pirates have so much love for their ships. The distant horizons, the ocean breeze, the smell of the seas and the feeling of venturing to the vast world. Sails flap into the wind, the planks, creak, the sound of a resisting ship soon becomes a familiar sound. The sound of the gulls high in the air circling around makes it feel like someone is looking over you. The fascination of seeing a marlin swim along side racing against your ship is enjoyable. The rocking comfort of a ship, can remind a person when they were a child in their mothers comforting arms. And the most invigorating part of it all, is the speed and the ability to go too and from. Nae, I knew nothing of what it means to have a ship, but this is one home within a home, that I intend to make use of.

Image

To think of High Captain "Rensby" and his demise in the hands of Waterdavian officials , it makes me curious what had been his last words as a pirate? He was probably asked by some high bloody noble or offical.. “How dare you molest the sea?” And he probably responded with “How dare you molest the whole world?” Because if you ask me a mere bartender of the Broken Goblet what I had thought about piracy, I would tell you..

Image

"Pirates steal with only a ship, and they are called thieves. Yet when the Duke does it with a great navy, they are called an emperor. Pirates are just trying to feed their bellies and family and have enough left to buy a bottle of rum and drink the pitiful hardship the Gods had dealt them. I think its rather unfair treatment if you ask me. "

There and Back Again

“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend
I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.”

Image

Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school.
But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.

*Dark brown orbs for eyes, carefully watches the figures hands playing with a particular item*
"May I ask..wots yer profession?"

*She was trying very hard to suppress a chuckle*
"I'm sure you'd instantly know if you'd be able to see my face . . ."

*A head tilts with an expression of curiosity and wonder soon becoming intrigued*

*The woman removed her cowl and slowly lifted her face to reveal to the man whom he then looked upon*
"Evenin', Master Sel."

*He grins wide, devilishly even then walks up to the figure giving a hug while soon passing something within the slender hand*
"Welcome home."

Image

There's no feeling like that sense of surprise when a dear old friend whom you had thought would never return, suddenly appears before you with gleaming eyes and a smirk. The sudden wash of memories filled my mind of cherished moments long past.

Sometime in the year 1357 DR

*With widen eyes filled with regard and disbelief*
"Are we really attempting to slay that dragon?!"

*The glance over his shoulder revealed his answer along with his grinning lips and words*
"No, we are going to slay the dragon and take its treasure."

*A scowl upon her face was added with her response*
"You are mad!"

"Watch my back aye?"
*He suddenly dashed head on with full focus and determination to slay the dragon and keep his friend from harm*

Later during that same year

*With sadden eyes and cracking words*
"I must go, I don't wish it. I must thank you for everything. Here you may use this and let it serve you since I wont be needing it."

*The sword was taken with the upmost care and tested for its balance*
"I will care for it as if it was my own, and if ever you return, you have my word I will return it."

Image

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is... suddenly a family.

2 Mirtul 1359 DR

*A sword in its sheath was untied from his waist and passed over to the woman*
"..this is yours "

"She takes the small elegant blade and tucks it away into her backpack*
"Thank you."

Image

No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow, when a friend must leave your side , be the better friend and understand them without question, and keep them in your memory and welcome them with opening arms if they ever return to your side again. Sometimes words do not need to be spoken to measure a friendship.
