The Diviner [Redacted] of Waterdeep puts out the call for aid:
Seeking: All Talents
The Artificer and Illusionist Arlath is a powerful wizard whose whereabouts are currently unknown. All efforts to scry for him,
Send for him or otherwise communicate with him have failed. I fear that a terrible fate may have befallen him. As Arlath's brother, I am bound to ascertain his condition. Join me in my effort to search his tower for any trace of him and you will be rewarded appropriately.
//Event Date will be Wednesday, May 17 at Pacific Time 1900, Eastern 2200. Please reply to this post with your character's response if interested. Please note there is the possibility of combat in this event.
After Event Summary:
Arlath the Mad
- Arlath was found alive and well. The party managed to save his life, although it became very evident that the man's experiments into discovering Sharran secrets had driven him completely mad and even severed his connection to the Weave.
- Magic was unable to affect Arlath. His brothers [Redacted] and Castus took him under their care, with the intention of returning to Waterdeep.
The Brothers Eerie
- The party met three of the five Brothers Eerie and learned of another.
- [Redacted] - [Redacted] sustained injuries while investigating the tower. Nevertheless, he is extremely grateful for the party's help in finding and retrieving his brother Arlath.
Arlath's Tower
- Rathmaz disintegrated Arlath's Scepter.
- The party successfully solved the key, vase, jug and harp puzzle.
- The party successfully navigated their way through the endless alley.
- In order to eliminate the risk of others discovering Arlath's research, [Redacted] leveled his mage tower, reducing it to rubble with a swarm of meteors.
THE HAUNTING OF BLACKHALL MANOR
Lord Eugene Denton of Baldur's Gate has flyers posted on all the bulletin boards he can find:
WANTED: Experts in Hauntings, Exorcisms, Ghosts and Spookiness!
A haunted mansion requires finesse to expel a ghost! If you think you're qualified the reward is 20,000 gold pieces and the favor of House Denton. Submit your credentials to the Denton Estate today!
//Event Date will be Monday, April 17 at Pacific Time 1900, Eastern 2200. Limit 5 characters. Please reply to this post (if you can) with your character's response (or send me a PM with the same!). Please note there will be minimal combat in this event, but ample opportunity to make a name for your character!
After Event Summary:
Blackhall Manor
- The efforts of the adventuring party successfully removed the threat of the hostile spirit within the mansion.
- Several benign spirits were left alone to continue wandering the manor. The adventuring party did not learn why these spirits linger on the Prime.
- Two House Denton guards were later found huddled in a closet. Some suggest that the traumatic experience prompted romantic confessions that have resulted in a new union.
Saer Edwynne Blackhall
- No official cause of death was ever determined for the merchant Edwynne Blackhall. His death remains something of a mystery to the public at large.
Lady Melyse Blackhall
- An ensorcelled Lady Melyse was revealed to be the actual hostile spirit haunting Blackhall Manor.
- The adventuring party successfully managed to return Lady Melyse' spirit to a tranquil state, eliminating the threat and sparing the woman an untimely death.
- Lady Melyse owes her life to the Lord-Knight Marshall, the archer Micar'Vilchi Iliathor, the Theurge Davka, the mage Meredith Nid, and the Bardess Maevyn Edgar. She will not forget her debts.
- Restored from her comatose state, Lady Melyse will be challenging Lord Eugene Denton's purchase of her home.
Lord Eugene Denton
- With ghosts still lingering within Blackhall Manor, Lord Eugene Denton feels like he was swindled. He wanted all the ghosts gone, not just the dangerous one!
- With Melyse's restoration, his newly acquired property is now in danger of being repossessed! Suffice to say, the lord is none-too-pleased with this outcome.
- Lord Eugene Denton's opinion of the adventuring party sharply falls.

THE TRIAL OF MELYSE BLACKHALL
Rumors spread that Lady Melyse Blackhall (née Turie) was arrested at her manor for the murder of her husband, the merchant Edywnne Blackhall. It is said that her accuser is a fellow noble of Baldur's Gate, Lord Eugene Denton, who had been involved in a real estate dispute with the beleaguered noblewoman.
Lady Blackhall's advocate puts out a statement: "Lady Melyse Turie is a well-respected and deeply beloved member of the city's nobility and these accusations leveled by Lord Denton are entirely baseless and false. We are fully confident that Lady Turie's innocence shall be incontrovertibly proven at trial."
The trial date has been tentatively set for: // MONDAY, MAY 8, at 1900 Pacific / 2200 Eastern
After Event Summary:
Lady Melyse Blackhall
- Because Alexander was able to retrieve evidence that supported Lady Melyse' innocence and because Alexander and Maevyn were successful in convincing Lady Melyse that she should not be held responsible for the death of her husband, Lady Melyse withdrew her initial confession.
- With the confession withdrawn and the introduction of new evidence breaking open the case, Dame Catherine of the Temple of Tyr decided to withdraw the prosecution's case against Lady Melyse and has promised not to pursue further charges against her on this matter.
Lord Eugene Denton
- Gaven and Maevyn received about fifty crates' worth of legal documents concerning Lord Denton's legal tactics and underhanded behavior. They were proudly delivered by Denton's own guards.
- Maevyn has earned Lord Denton's supreme disfavor. He will not soon forget her.
The Empath, Esme Brightheart
- Warrants have been issued for Esme Brightheart's arrest. Should she ever step foot within the jurisdiction of Baldur's Gate, she will surely be wanted for questioning.
Blackhall Manor
- In the chaos of preparing for the trial, Lady Melyse omitted submitting the required protest to contest the sale of her manor. Lord Denton's ownership of Blackhall manor is finalized.
- Homeless, Lady Melyse has taken Alexander Marshall's offer for shelter in Triel.
The Masquerade Court
- Rafe Landers, Melyse's advocate during the trial, revealed that he was a member of the Masquerade Court upon the withdrawal of the charges against Lady Melyse. Lady Melyse expressed her gratitude to the Masquerade Court for aiding her in her hour of need.
- The Masquerade Court's renown grows across the Coast.
A WAR FOR COLD AND GOLD

ENDGAME:

// FINALE EVENT:
17:00 GMT on Saturday, July 22
[RULES OF ENGAGEMENT]
Ground Rules: Nothing has changed here but I am spoilering them to make the changes to the Final Event rules more apparent.
- Only one character per player may participate in this event series. If you join an event on an alt, do not join other events on your main and vice versa.
- I am trying a new system to determine who will be considered victorious in the end: Whether the Everwatch is ultimately able to seize the Temple of Auril or whether the Temple of Auril is able to fend off the invaders will come down to the difference between each side's "Available Military Power / AMP." At the conclusion of the event series, the difference between the remaining Available Military Power will determine who is victorious.
- Each side's Available Military Power consists of an NPC score and a Player score. Training, Morale, Environmental Factors, etc. can adjust each side's total score. For example, the long march from Nashkel to the Cloud Peaks applies a negative adjustment to the Amnian army's AMP but high morale for fighting a righteous cause may apply a positive adjustment.
- Tactical gambits, recruiting, and diplomacy undertaken during the conflict can further increase or decrease each side's score.
- PvP is reserved for the final event only and will occur in a semi-structured fashion (please do not expect a giant pvp free-for-all).
- Do NOT tamper with the bodies of any other Player Character ICly or OOCly. Anyone caught doing this will be immediately booted from the event.
Final Event General Rules
- Disclaimer: I am targeting for this event to take no longer than 4 hours (hopefully). If it starts to drag on, for the sake of practicality and expediency, some rules may change depending on how the event unfolds.
- Please make sure all the players on your team have reviewed these rules before the start of the event.
- If you must depart before the event has concluded, you will be treated as having made a tactical retreat.
- I will force rest all players upon the start of the event. Resting will not be allowed until after the event's conclusion.[/b]
- Deploy your buffs, spells, and consumables wisely. Buffs and debuffs that expire during the course of the event will be considered expired.
- The final battle will take place using a turn-based system. A dice roll will determine whether Team Auril or Team Amn gets to have the first turn.
- All players will take simultaneous turns when it is their team's turn.
Army Battalions:
- During the final battle, both sides of the conflict will have NPC battalions. The fate of each NPC battalion will contribute substantially to each side's AMP score.
- As the NPC battalions engage each other, Simple 1d20s will determine how the NPC armies perform against each other if no player action is involved.
- Players can choose to assign their characters to an NPC battalion or not.
- Only those assigned to battalions can influence the fate of their allied NPC battalion through declared actions and relevant rolls.
- If your character is not assigned to a battalion, they have the option to target enemy battalions through declared actions and relevant rolls.
- It is more risky to not be assigned to a battalion as there is safety in numbers but you are also more mobile and free from battlefield constraints that may afflict allied battalions.
- All battalions and the players allied to them act at the same time when it is their turn. This will hopefully keep things progressing.
- Each turn, battalions and the players assigned to them can move up to two tiles on the warmap (see below). Players not assigned to a battalion can move three tiles. You can move less than your maximum movement if desired.
- Each turn, once movement is completed, battalions that are within one square of each other will be considered engaged in combat. Unless otherwise directed, armies engaged in combat will fight until one side is defeated.
Player Actions:
- Once army movement is complete, players may take their actions. This can include:
- Helping their battalion fight an enemy battalion. You must be next to an enemy battalion for melee, or within 1 tile for ranged.
- Casting a spell/using an ability on an enemy battalion. You must be next to an enemy battalion for melee, or within 1 tile for ranged.
- Readying a reaction (e.g., counterspells).
- Attaching to / Detaching oneself from a battalion.
PvP:
- Players assigned to battalions that engage each other have the opportunity to issue PvP Challenges once per engagement. No one is required to accept a PvP challenge but not accepting may affect Morale.
- If your character is not assigned to a battalion, you can issue PvP challenges to any opposing PC, provided you are able to reach them on the map. However, rejected PvP challenges have significantly less of an effect on morale.
- Parties who have agreed to PvP each other will be brought to a separate map for their PvP to take place. The PvP duels will be monitored by a DM and the outcome will be announced upon their completion. While you are engaged in PvP, you forego taking any actions during the army combat turns.
- There are no rules on how buffed either party can be before engaging in PvP.
Warmap:
- Use the below preview of the warmap to help your planning. The map is intended to represent the immediate vicinity of the Temple. Due to limitations of the toolset, elevation may not be properly reflected on the map: we will treat tile elevations as closely as possible to what they would be on the actual Cloud Peaks map.

THE TRIAL OF MAEVYN ARKALIS
Shocking news travels like wildfire through the city of Baldur's Gate. The Bardess Maevyn Arkalis, wife of Knight-Commander Gaven Arkalis, was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and conspiracy against a Baldurian lord! She is currently being held in the prison of the Flaming Fist Headquarters in Seatower District, where she awaits trial.
It is said that Dame Catherine the Just, devotee of Tyr, has agreed to assume the role of Maevyn's advocate for her trial.
// TRIAL EVENT:
19:00 GMT on Saturday, September 9
// Maevyn's PC has been placed in the entrance area of the Flaming Fist HQ in order to allow visitors before the trial without requiring a DM online. If your PC is visiting Maevyn, please consider Maevyn still kept within her holding cell and that you are being monitored by the Jailor.

As the Mage Hunter presence in Nashkel increases, those mages who feel the gold-plated boot of Amn upon their necks are pushed to a breaking point. Whispers of sedition and rebellion light sparks in the hearts of those who sympathize with magi in Northern Amn. Those looking for signs of how to aid their plight would have the following words murmured in their ear:
Follow the Dragonfly.
Aftermath:
Tyrelius the Thrice Judged assembled mages of all stripes from within and near Amn to a secret conclave where he announced his intentions to strike back against the Inquisition, the Mage Hunters, and all Amnian Tyrants who would dare to oppress arcanists. Although he was hoping to rally all in attendance to his cause, the persuasive words of one "Martha" - actually the Freedom Fighter going by the callsign of 'Dragonfly' - convinced most in attendance to seek more peaceful means to resolve their differences with the Inquisition, an effort to minimize collateral damage and harm to innocents.
Seeing these Amnian-sympathizers as naive, Tyrelius nevertheless left the door open for those who departed with Dragonfly to join their ranks in the future, once the veil is lifted from their eyes. He knows the truth of the matter: there can be no peace in Nashkel between mage and mage hunter so long as Amn reigns.
THRICE JUDGED BUT NEVER BROKEN
Tyrelius summons his cadre of supporters to plan their next move.

The witch and necromancer known as Bronwyn the Scorned has been sighted outside Amnian territory near the Trielta Hills. She is wanted in Amn on charges of unlicensed use of magic, assault, destruction of property, and multiple counts of murder. Those who wish to perform service for and be recognized by the adamantine nation of Amn will capture and turn the mage over to the Inquisition, dead or alive.
Instructions to meet an Inquisition handler in the Trielta Hills accompany a detailed description of a youthful blond woman with alabaster skin and a map marking likely spots in the Trielta Hills for her hideout.
