Candlekeep was visited by quite a few today. Some came looking for the Guide, but the Reader-gnome had to simply inform them that the Guide is away for the time being. Even so, new faces were introduced to one another, and conversation was had about many things: History, travel, geography and more! A gift was even shared with the Avowed of Candlekeep by a man with green hair!
Later, after the conversation had turned to magic and adventure, the scholarly gnome was invited to observe a mage duel at the Warrior's Rest, after which he returned to the library-fortress with a scroll in hand.

Previously seen two tendays back, a red-headed druid makes her way inside the public section of Candlekeep's Library searching for the presence of a particular Reader-gnome. Met with the news that he wasn't there at the moment, she left a message that "her book had been completed!", that she wanted to share it with him, and that she'd return another day to do so.

Today a visitor came to Candlekeep seeking knowledge! The Reader-gnome greeted her to the best of his ability of course, and they spoke of scary dragons that they established are almost as smart as elves, which themselves are almost as smart as gnomes! There may have been some disagreement about whether humans can outsmart gnomes or if the gnomes are just letting the humans think they can.
The scholarly gnome was also fascinated to learn that the visitor was married to a lantern, and adviced the visitor to wear gloves when she had explained her wife burned her fingers!

A busy day at Candlekeep, for later the same day another visitor arrived - a returning one: The red-headed druidess. The scholarly gnome received her as he was spending time weeding the flowers near the Portal, and received excellent advice from the obviously more green fingered visitor, though she also later praised the condition of the flowers.
The two spent some time at Candlekeep's inn, discussing authorship and the druidess' nearly completed book, as well as policies surrounding admittance to the library.
And just as the red-headed druidess departed the library-fortress, the Reader-gnome was greeted by a woman presenting herself as a Scion of Siamorphe. By a strange coinsidence (or can a scholar such as this gnome believe in such things), the nobility priestess had in fact come for the same knowledge as the woman earlier in the day: Scary dragons! And so the Reader told her the same things, but also suggested the two women joined forces, for they clearly had similar goals!
This woman did however not divulge any marriage status - whether to a lantern or otherwise.

This time a quick visit, a certain red haired druidess eagerly waltz to the Public Section of the Library and makes a petition for access to the books inside the Private Sections. As is expected by Candlekeep, she in return publishes her own work for any and all to read, titled "Beyond Calm Waters, Words of Eldath".

Candlekeep was visited today by a young tiefling woman excited about knowledge. The reader-gnome received her and explained the mission of Candlekeep and its Avowed, should she find interest in becoming a member. The scholarly gnome had to explain that while the Guide is away, recruitment is done by the First Reader or the Keeper of Tomes himself, but he did express a hope that the visitor would be accepted!

A druid with a purpose came to Candlekeep today, and was received by the scholarly gnome. First they spoke about the process of petition and admittance to the library, and the donation required, as well as the limitations for accepted petitions. The reader-gnome happily explained matters as clearly as he could!
Then the conversation moved on briefly to more social matters, before once again delving into serious topics. This time regarding the corruption of Ulgoth's Beard and its potential cleansing. Suggestions ranged from wishes and mircles on the more spectacular side to copious amounts of sand and rock on the more mundane side. But above all, the reader-gnome warned that flooding an area in large amounts of negative energy inevitably leads to undead rising, and would simply trade one corruption for another.

A returning visitor came to Candlekeep today to ask strange questions about 'an aberrant'. The reader-gnome who received him had no idea about what that meant, but at least explained a bit about aberrations (like mind flayer, beholders and mimics) and perhaps the use of the word 'aberrant' as an adjective rather than a noun.
The two also spoke about how one might extend life, in particular with longevity potions, and how those are reputed to taste really bad. And also how all methods to extend one's life tend to come at significant cost, one way or another.

A previous visitor returned to Candlekeep today and approached the reader-gnome. Like last time the two conversed, they entered the library to have a more private location to converse about their topic.
Later, not long after the previous visitor had left, another arrived. This one representing the church of Mystra, had come also with a topic for discussion in a more private setting, and so the scholarly gnome suggested either the inn or the temple of Oghma. The two agreed on the latter, and spent quite a while within, discussing whatever topic had been brought.

Today the reader-gnome was approached by guard Fuller, who came to bring the gnome in to meet with the Keeper of Tomes Ulraunt. The meeting was quickly over, and afterwards the gnome was no longer reader-gnome, but Guide-gnome!
As is tradition for gnomes, the new Guide took to finding another name to add to his already quite long string of names.

Two visitors came to Candlekeep today, and the Guide-gnome received them and invited them to the inn to have some drinks. While the long-leg visitor was collecting the drinks from Winthorp, the gnome and the visiting hin admired the painting of a Netherese city, while the scholarly gnome explained to the hin woman what it was.
Once the human had collected the drinks for the three, they sat down and discussed many topics of both mundane and extraordinary matters. Topics such as the planes - in particular that of the Plane of Shadow - as well as the differences between demons and devils and what even is the definition of a scholar.

The Guide-gnome received a visitor today who sought to learn about and join the avowed of Candlekeep. After a brief interview in the Guide's office and a tour of the library-fortress, the visitor was no longer a visitor, but a resident acolyte.
The Guide thus announce the membership of Acolyte Calia Vanaris!

Guarded by Selyndra, Naer'eanque arrived at Candlekeep in the early night-hours of Eleint 21.
After a conversation with the gnomian Guide, the red-haired elf finally took a room at the inn.

The Candle Keep Library would be visited by a Kossuthan Tiefling who donates another book to the collection. Adding it to the slowly growing stacks of work she has done thus far. If asked what the book is about, the tiefling lofts a armored shoulder in a shrug and says that it's unlike her other works.
