New Face Among the Guard

Those around the city may notice a new soldier amongst the ranks of the city guard. A man by the name of Daemon Trillus has taken up the banner of the village. The larger man is said to have hailed from Tethyr, and has a great deal of experience to boast. In the last tenday, a few skulking vagrants have been found by the former soldier and quickly removed from the city.

A Roar of Festivities

Amongst the city of Beregost, conversations of upcoming guests can be heard. Large carts and crates can be seen along the outskirts of the city as the announcement of a noblemen is expected in the coming tenday. The name of the man is Lord Francis Sesqua, who is known for his extravagant circuses and collection of exotic animals. The lord is expected to stay at Beregost for a few days while displaying his collection of animals taken from nearly every corner of Faerun. There are said to be fearsome tigers, gorillas, monkeys, and dancing bears. The townsfolk rejoice with excitement of the soon to arrive lord. Adults and children alike line up to watch at the chance of seeing a tiger in person.

In the hills south of Beregost favoured by wyverns and other horrors a single hin on some scouting task came upon a nest of Undead. She chose to leave the hills and reported her sightings along the way.

In response to this and other sightings two expeditions made their way into the hills. One at the behest of an adventuring group at the Friendly Arms Inn, and a second fronted by the Everwatch and the Bladestone from the way of the lion.

These expeditions clashed with both undead and devils separately before joining together at a site where the undead had first been spotted and there finding a large series of caves found to be worth exploring.

The caves were expansive and deep and the group split up once again as they explored clearing away groups of Cyric cultists and undead and more devils. It was clear both devils and cultists were in competition over something and on occasion were discovered battling with each other.

The devils and the cultists each had a collection of treasures perhaps for the trading or stolen from the nearby roads. Whatever the story the caves were cleared and safely exited. The roads once again safe for travellers, the hills less so. One devil was reported to have been near invincible but left the fight early when confronted by a small army of coastal heroes from many walks of life.

Bridge North of Beregost Repaired!

The bridge north of Beregost has been repaired and will once again open for travellers soon. Word has it that the reconstruction was carried out by the skilled Azure Arcanists mages, who rather uniquely, employed their magical prowess to manipulate the very stone. Additionally, a group of adventurers reportedly defended the mages from relentless goblin attacks during the repair, allowing the mages to focus their full efforts on reparations.

One of the adventurers was seen burying all the goblin bodies off the path after the event took place.

A Quiet Morning in Beregost

Since the aftermath of a mysterious undead attack on the small town of Beregost, the citizens have taken to the streets in efforts to bury the dead. In tribute to those fallen, the rites began at first sun. Those faithful to Lathander stood outside and lined the streets draping flags of the Morninglord across the fallen militia and paladins. Those with the ability found themselves blessing the ground and taking precaution over nearly one hundred decaying formerly undead bodies. While several of those who responded to the attack were killed or injured, the houses buildings and structures remained unscathed. Regardless of the work it will take to clear out all of the bodies of friends and foe alike, Beregost thanks the Lathander that the city remained in one piece.

A Whisper in Beregost

As the citizens of Beregost continue their solemn task of burying the dead and honoring those who fell during the recent undead attack, a dark rumor begins to circulate through the town. Whispers in the shadows speak of a sinister figure who may have been responsible for the horrors that befell Beregost.

It is said that a tiefling seen with glowing eyes was lurking in the area just before the undead rose. Descriptions of this mysterious figure vary wildly — some claim their skin was ashen, while others insist it was a deep, eerie blue. One witness even swore that the air around the tiefling was thick with the stench of sulfur.

Despite the lack of evidence, the tale of the tiefling necromancer continues to gain traction, leaving the townsfolk wary and watchful for any sign of the mysterious stranger.

Chaos in Beregost: Anti-Tiefling Sentiment

The recent meeting turned into an utter disaster, lacking any official presence to mediate the chaos. Isaac, a civilian, is rumoured to be leading an anti-Tiefling campaign in Beregost, taking a hard stance on the matter. Despite several adventurers attempting to address the gathering, their speeches couldn’t prevent the meeting from descending into turmoil. Most there already had a hard stance against the Tieflings, and at least half the civilians present appeared to be outsiders who came to support the gathering. One elf spoke out, claiming the attack on Beregost was orchestrated by the Dhaerow, not any Tiefling.

The discussions were further disrupted by distressing news about Father Darian Hawkwood, a Lathanderite, who went missing while waiting for the dawn's light behind the Mayor's mansion. The meeting ended abruptly after a 'savage' Tiefling attack, where a female Tiefling reportedly assaulted someone during the proceedings.

Isaac mysteriously vanished during the meeting but later reappeared on the Beregost streets with a determined look, vowing to run for council to "put leashes on Tieflings coming to Beregost.".

Slaughtered Livestock in Beregost's Outskirts

Farmers, shepherds, and goatherds on the outskirts of Beregost have travelled into town to complain of their animals being attacked. Specifically, they say that many of their rams and goats have been slaughtered, with their horns cut off. Gossip spreads, with a variety of opinions one might hear as they walk through Beregost:

"I'm ruined without me goats."
"Aye, someone is going to pay for this."

"I'll give ONE gold piece to whoever finds out who done this, I will"

"Poor animals, they didn't deserve it."
"Won't somebody think of the children?"

"First the undead attack, and now our farms attacked?!"
"I bet it's those tieflings up to no good."
"Nay it's Amn, it's always Amn."

"We need to put together and help our farmers and shepherds."
"What about a festival? Raise some coin for 'em!"
"Aye, maybe Midsummer? It's Shieldmeet this year!"

"It's obviously those tiefling-hunters."
"What are ye talkin' 'bout lass, they be lookin' for ram horns, not devil horns!"
"... wisdom is always chasing you but it seems that you are much faster."

"Praise the Morninglord! He will protect us."
"All good for you lot in town with guards!"

"This is why we need the sheep registration system. It's those sheep-movers."
"What do ye mean, a ribbon on yer sheep ain't gonna stop it from being hurt."

"It's those tiefling-drow again, I know it."
"There ain't no tiefling-drow."
"Tiefling-elves?"
"Ain't none o' them either!"

"Oi you there, throw away your damn rubbish!"

Tragic Fate of a Tiefling

Image

In the forest near Beregost, a tiefling's life met a grim repetition of death and resurrection. A mishap when a caravan wheel broke, stranding the tiefling and her hired companions on the forest road. A group of adventurers arrived, one attempting to repair the wagon, but their efforts only caused further chaos, collapsing the wagon onto three wheels and spooking the horse attached to it. The horse bolted into the woods and the tiefling gave chase, only to be ambushed by a hin and murdered.

However, one of the adventures revived the tiefling, breathing life back into her once-still form. After a few moments, the hin had then taunted them from a distance, drawing them into a chase through the roads towards the Friendly Arms Inn. The hin however was far too fast for them, losing sight of the hin, and eventually giving up.

Upon their return to the caravan, the adventurers were met with a scene of horror: the tiefling was dead once more. This time, her demise was marked by chilling details - her head was cleanly severed, her blood mostly absent. Nearby, her horse lay in a similar state, almost bloodless, yet with its head intact. There was no chance to revive her this time. She was dead. She was later identified as Raelynn, a tiefling known to some around the Friendly Arms Inn, the Gates, and Beregost.

After the events, a man was later seen in Beregost, screaming and shouting that he had witnessed a vampire during the incident. His frantic screams echoed through the streets, spreading fear and intrigue among the townsfolk, are they being attacked once more by the undead? The city was on high alert.

Celebrate the Dawnlight Victors!

The Dawnlight of the Spring Athletics Carnival was a hit. Merriment, food, drink, and the joyous spirit of renewal. It is said that the temple raised a healthy sum of donations. But the real talk of the town and beyond are of the victors of Beregost's Dawnlight of the Spring Athletics Carnival.

Contest winners:
  • Axe-chopping: Belinda Ravenwood. Not only did this knight chop wood with precision and strength, she was an inch away from winning the running race, and performed a most impressive display of swordplay. She was quick to point out that she was a mercenary for hire.
  • Archery: Micar'vilchi. Mysterious, elegant, and swift. This archer entered the contest at the very last minute, and was last up to fire her shots. She hit all three bullseyes like it was no effort at all.
  • Running: Laethelas. An impressive contestant; he scaled the walls of a building during his talent show number. But it was the running race where his talent really shined. Belinda almost won the race, but Laethelas pushed through with a burst of speed at the very end!
  • Variety athletics talent show: Silian Gein A talented archer - although perhaps too focused on entertaining the audience and neglecting to hit the target. Nonetheless, Silian was an absolute crowdpleaser, and his impressive dance number showed off his physical might and grace.

Additionally, two individuals were given an award for embodying the true spirit of the Morninglord; showing their commitment to embracing a fertile body and mind, even if not winning a contest or demonstrating the best physical prowess. These winners were Sirion and Deirde.

All contest and award winners were presented with beautiful golden rings with an etching of a rising sun, with a rosy pink hue. There is no doubt that these victors have earned great status amongst the people of Beregost, and with Lathanderites beyond.

Praise the Morninglord!

Rumor circulates of a visiting noblewoman's death with some commenting on the nature of the killer being a disgruntled for-hire mercenary, though the investigative work of a pink garbed halfling woman may dispel some of it - but the true nature of the events that transpired remains a guarded secret by the town's authority, as well as the the inquisitive hin that sought answer.
