The elven twins were seen returning in a hurry from the farmlands North of Baldur's Gate with a few minor injuries.
Following a brief rest at a local inn, the two would visit first the Mystran Temple, and then the City Watch Headquarters. By their mannerisms, one would assume that the subject of their concerns was of some urgency and importance, although, given their preference to converse in their foreign tongue, it would not have been possible to discern it by overhearing their chattering. For those who are frequent guests of the Mystran Temple, it would be possible to learn that the subject had something to do with the Fields of the Dead, and spotting of an unusual type of undead, among other things.

The twins would later leave the city again, this time traveling South, and then be seen in the later hours of the day visiting House Darius, as has become usual for them in the past few days.

After a long day in the wilderness, the Elven Twins were seen spending the afternoon at the Wide market and the gardens of the Darius Estate, looking for a few specific magical items. In this endeavor they were assisted by a Hin named Bill, an aspiring banker who already in the past had offered his appraisal services to the pair. As the locals might notice, this was not the first time that the two elves sought magical items from the Darius shop, and it is possible that the estate might have economically benefited from their repeated acquisitions there.

Having completed their business, the twins still lingered about the market until evening, first talking to another hin acquaintance of theirs, who had recently returned to the Gate after a few days of absence, and then other adventurers and locals who were gathering at the market for rest and refreshments. The conversations ranged between various subjects, including secrets hidden under the city, the nature and perception of magic users by various societies, the appropriate interest loan rate for adventurers in general and a certain pirate bartender in particular, human mating rituals -with one alleged demonstration-, and the locations of some of the most dangerous monsters in the Sword Coast.

The elven twins who recently arrived at the Gate were seen walking in the garden square of the Temple district in the early hours of the evening, reciting poetry to each other in their foreign tongue. One of them would be notably witnessed casting the occasional Sending spell every once in a while, and taking notes in-between.
As it turned out, the pair was waiting on an appointment to House Divine, which the two elves visited later in the same evening. Employees and frequent guests of the Estate could learn that the twins had set up a consultation for a pair of outfits from the Matron, and spent quite a while hashing out the details of their order. As it turned out, a certain degree of the delay in the process may have had to do with a mix of cultural differences and personal preferences causing confusion between the two involved parties and their host in more than one occasion.

Rumours spread from the docks near the charity kitchen that a large crowd had gathered to seek a healer, called Brother Solace.

Image

The crowd cried out in despair and desperation, begging for the powerful healer to remove their memories, desperate to get the attention of the mender of minds. Some of the crowd, who already have their memories removed, praise the healer until, suddenly, a powerful magic of dispel affects numerous within the crowd, many of them crying out in despair as memories removed flood back.

Further rumours spread of some of the crowd spitting and cursing a wizard who was the supposed caster of this dispelling spell. Threats of violence lingered at length whilst amongst the crowd, a soft-spoken healer tried to convince them there was a better way forward than having their memories removed.

Though often moving around the city, or out in the wilds, he pair of Moon Elves has been seen for a couple of days now stopping by the Darius open theater in the Manorborn district to rehearse scene from a musical play.
As the lines themselves appeared to be sung in the Common tongue, the occasional passerby might have gleamed that the subject must be some kind of romantic tragedy, set somewhere far away.

As has become fairly common since the last month or so, the pair of elven twins was seen at the Gate, walking between the Manorborn District and the Wide, and engaging in friendly chatter with travelers, local, and recently-made acquaintances.
As their usual, they spent their morning outside, exploring the wilds, and later decided to spent the better part of the day and the evening in the city, engaging in various social activities. For those who would hear their conversations, it would be soon evident that their primary concern still remains learning more about the Sword Coast, its history, and its inhabitants, and that the pair would happily chat with just about any friendly face that crosses their path in this pursuit.

Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate

Unread post by Ashenie »

The quiet procession of the Ilmatari Sister grew heavier. The rumor says that, covered in runes and ashes, she speaks of penances and solace. The burdens she undertook grew. Desperate gatherings are guided away from suffering, through words of compassion, through remorse and introspection. The rumor says that, with every day that passes, the Sufferer found more crowds seeking memory erasure. It is said that she always offers help and healing to children, pregnant women, disabled and sick people who are present, for free and without charge or promise of worship. But to those who seek to appease their consciousness with erasure, she offers the helping hand of the Broken God: a path of redemption. Some say that the Revered Mother Juna asked her to undertake this charge, while others murmur that the Broken God revealed the path forward. Though she remains silent on the matter, endeavoring as she may. What is however certain is that she will not cease to try to help them, their victims and others who suffered from these sad events. Some say that the desperation that grew in the city seals another Suffering for the Ilmatari, a holy rite of penance and compassion.

No one is ever forced, and free will always considered, it is said she walks this path by their side, with them, but not in their stead. Carrying painted stones, the penitent Sister speaks words of harmony, of responsibility, of lasting solace found in accountability for those who wish to hear. And while her words are for those who seek erasure, she speaks of the numerous victims and suffering that a memory seal will condemn to oblivion once more. It cannot be, and it shall not be. In quiet endeavors, she guides those willing to the Shrine of the Suffering, where secluded prayers are murmured for salvation, where the Broken God offers true solace, true healing, to those who are honest in sharing their suffering, and facing it. It is said that those who accept this path, and to be helped, find more than just spiritual solace: the Ilmatari offer care for the body, care for the mind, and rehabilitation of their situation, so no suffering is left unheard. It is even said that the Church of the Triad, and the Temples of Sune and Mystra in the city are helping too.

The rumor says that Sister Ashenie vows a specific attention to the children, and vulnerable people, spotted in such gathering, and that they will always, always find a helping hand.

The docks were quiet in the late hours of the evening, save for the creaking of ships, and the gentle waves lapping against the harbors pier. Tucked between crates sat a small group of street children, all huddled around a familiar little figure dressed in dark clothes. Tonight she had brought bread to feed their hungry tummies, and a couple coins for each to awaken desires in their little hearts. Despite those gifts, she had not come to offer promises that things were going to get any easier... but rather offering the only lasting thing she ever truely could-- stories... and life lessons.

With a small lantern at her side and her fingers dancing within the light, the shadows came alive on the wooden crate before her. With small delicate movements, a fox 'emerged' who was sly, and impossibly graceful. The children watched with wide eyes as the little creature darted between the larger shapes, claiming coins from bloated elk merchants, pompous wolf nobles, and loud rabbits far too busy boasting of their own importance to notice what disappeared from their burrows.

"Shadow Fox" she said softly, her voice rich with intrigue "he was the cleverest creature in all the city. Never the strongest, nor was he the richest... but clever? He was indeed so clever that all the animals adored him even while he played them right from under their little noses"

The fox then slipped unseen between shadows on the crate, only to reappear with another coin clutched happily in its tiny paws.

"He learned early that fat cats and wealthy merchants rarely notice what disappears from their pockets-- especially when they spend all their time looking down on those 'smaller' than them"

Her stories spoke of a tenant she herself took to heart, one that said 'The world belongs to the quick, the smooth-tongued, and the light-fingered'. She emphasized that opportunities were waiting within every dark corner for those crafty enough to seek them. She praised curiosity and spoke of the foxes quick whit-- for he always knew when to run, when to hide, and when to smile sweetly enough that nobody thought to check their pockets twice.

As the fox danced between the lantern light, the children watched that same lesson the she herself had embraced so long ago:

The world did not belong to the loud, the noble, or the righteous. It belonged to those clever enough to take their piece of it unseen.

Maybe... this is but just another Lower City tale whispering through the cold night air.
Or maybe beneath the lantern light, the streets of Baldur’s Gate was raising a new generation of little foxes.
Only time would truely tell.

Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate

A very strange rumor is spread through the Lower City. It is said that a portal was open in the Charity Kitchen, blocking the access to one of the rooms used by the homeless and other people who seek rehabilitation there. While the portal has been removed, it is said that its creator has not been identified yet, and the matter is now between the hands of the Flaming Fist Company.

To any who ask, the Ilmatari would share that it is dangerous to open portals in there, and that people could find themselves suddenly transported in an hostile environment, especially when their health and their situation are already fragile. It would put everyone there at risk if other creatures decided to travel through such portals.

For those that have concern with the stone foundations and water ways below the cobblestones streets of Baldur's Gate, a rumor may have passed between them that some say a rush of water—some further say in the form of a wide-armed blob—has at times passed through the passageways below in recent days..

None could say whether this "wave"of water was moving from up deeper in the bowels, or moving down, from the sun-lit surface. For certain, after the water had passed, whatever beasts and beings that crawled or swam the passages below were removed in its path...and for however long, the passing left a cleanliness, a greater purity behind it....
