Battle at River's End

Unread post by DM Mimic »

// This thread will be used to organize player efforts in the coordination of the defense of River's End. This is an IC thread - please keep posts in character.
In lieu of seeking formal military aid, the New Arcane Liberation Front declares that it will stand by its promise to defend River's End. Coordinating with the Church of Mystra and the town council, Sierra the Red and her fellow Liberators issue a call for assistance from heroes and adventurers who represent only their own interests and not those of any regional polities.

Archon Yuri Lichelina would provide Rivers End with supply of Alchemists Fire, Acid Flasks and tanglefoot bags.

Alongside that, Yuri would help coordinate those he spoke to who wishes to aid in Plant Growth to make the area outside the town as inhospitable to an invading army as possible with vines and thorns. Possibly even hiding pits made with Move Earth.

Whenever he would find the time for it, he would be looking to acquire wooden stakes and caltrops for the war effort. Likely having the Vindicators back at Myradon Keep aid in acquiring the supplies necessary to bolster defences.
((I told people who will do plant growth to post here))

Sordoc D'gaffer can be seen co-ordinating with the defenders with to set up many sections of the approaches with thorns and vines with multiple castings of Plant Growth, cultivating the vines and thorns to slow any attackers as directed by the defenders. Often grumbling about the amount of work to re cultivate the land after such growth. He will also try to supply the town with some additional healing herbs gathered from the surrounding forests. He is also likely to be seen turning into a gargoyle to assist with the lifting and digging of trenches, and to weather the occasional stray shot from defenders.
I cannot be lost, because I am here, though I may be geogrpahically misplaced.

Nicho and Rachel will help with supplying town with various healing herbs and herbal remedies, most notably barks and healing-magic infused ointments. Other than that, rangers would provide several bunches of enchanted arrows to local archers and, when have time, set up Snares via spell, targetting spots with trees nearby first, otherwise coordinating with other druids with better placement of those magical traps. Additionally, they would help with Plant Growth rituals to some extent
(exact number of healing supplies will be sent to Mimic once we consider that we crafted enough)
Update: added note about placing Snares and Plant Growth aid, since apparently. they are in ranger's spell list according to SRD

Sideplay:
In her free time, between and before, the real tasks would be upcoming, she wandered through the streets. On her shoulder was sitting a squirrel, looking around with wide eyes...sometimes hiddnig the little head in the messy hair of the elven druidess, when the settlement was becoming too frightend for the animal. At some spots she was sitting down and inhale the atmosphere for getting used to that place. After the little fellow was also calming down she gave the small animal with finger gesture commands. The red-fured fellow followed the sign with jumps, dashes or postures. Also jumps through wooden rings were part of that kind of "training". Of course the half-tamed squirrel was squecking from time to time, as if would protest. But then a provided hazelnut eased the little revolution out.
If someone would be interested she hold a lecture about squirrels and maybe also about their favourite foods and how trees are growing.

Sometimes, casualy some colourfull petals were fallen, out of pouches on her hips. Completly out of coincedence...
Maybe, also the one or other flower in a garden would bloom, after she had whispered some soft words.

By all this, she kept Maevyn’s words in mind...

Eleven soldiers file into the town, riding two-by-two, with a Warden-at-Arms at the head. The soldiers wear the markings of House Lyonaler on their armor and the front two carry banners with the House insignia. These soldiers consist of four rangers armed with bows and short swords with light armor, and seven with light lances while riding, longswords at their sides, and shields, as well as heavily armored. The Warden unseats himself and approaches the Council of the Town, offering their support from Lord Aaron Lyonaler, who will arrive at a later time.

For those who might be sent out from the town to scout, the Town Council is informed that the Lord Lyonaler had spotted a small encampment of about ten, dark colored, and heavily armored men in a ruins once called the "Sunrise Spire". a few miles south-west of River End. This should be investigated by those with the talents to move close enough to scout it out.

The soldiers would then locate the Militia Captain and find a place for them to be of use as well as bed down.

The remaining soldiers at the Bridgefort begin to prepare for the coming days. Security becomes much more tight near to the Fort. The Gates are un-locked to passangers only after they show their faces and state their intent. The Lord of the fort offers the walls to the efforts to thwart the Goblinoid army, to be used as a fall back point and area for triage, due to it's somewhat coseness to Rivers End. Should the forces need a eastern rally point, the fort is available, as well as preparing it as a hospital and refuge for the peoples of the town and surrounding area, should they need to flee. Food stores, medicines, and bedding begins to be prepared within the walls.

A tiefling wearing a purple tunic over chain armor arrives, leading a pack-horse pulling a cart. Vaile Redhardt, known apothecary and acolyte of Talona, smiles, pointedly ignoring any comments about her fiendish heritage of the symbol of Talona fitted openly on her belt.

"Hi!" she would great the guard at the garrison. "I just came to drop this off." She gestures to a pair of crates in the cart, one roughly a 2-foot cube, the long a heavy, long crate of about 6 feet long. Both of the crates would have the symbol of Talona, and purple triangle with three golden teardrops, freshly painted onto them.

The larger crate is hefted off first, rattling inside with wood and metal, it is stuffed with an assortment of simple but high quality weapons and armor.

Next, and with much more care, the second crate is retrieved. "40 doses of Barkskin potion. It won't last all day, but it should last longer than most fights."

((Weapons and armor are simple +4, and Items may be collected at the DMs convenience, or rejected.))
