Rumors of Ulgoths Beard

While on a recent visit into the village of Ulgoth's, the High Ranger of the Green Enclave was tasked wtih inspecting the lighthouse and area immediately surrounding it. Part of the small cliffside had fallen into the water and it didn't seem safe to stand on too near the edge. She knelt on a safer piece of ground and spent several moments looking over rot and decay. Concern that clouded her eyes was replaced by a smile that lifted the corners of her mouth as she realized the rot and decay were a normal part of nature's cycle rather than any sort of leftover abyssal taint. While there, she carefully cleaned rot away from small plants that were trying to grow, giving them room to thrive. She prayed quietly as she worked, asking the Forest Queen to bless her efforts and those of the others in various parts of Ulgoth's. When finished, she sat back on her heels, wiped her brow, and her smile grew as she was certain this small bit of land would soon be thriving and beautiful again.

The Demonic presence that had persisted off the coast of the small town of Ulgoth's Beard appears to have been purged. Tales of fights with giant oceanic worms that resembled in some way the tree of eyes that had been in the town, and trips to the Abyss likely abound in various ways. ((Thank you DM Faith and SC!))

With this corruption gone, and his dispensation from the Dukes allowing him and a small entourage to enter the guarded town's ruins, Derik Ranloss would be seen passing through the town. Possibly accompanied by Lylan'synor and Adrian Baker, the resident of the fishing village would be seen taking measurements and stock of various ruins and plots in the area, discussing where best to lay new foundations and disperse the wagons of Chauntean blessed topsoil and fertilizer that had been acquired.

The High Ranger had been sitting around the fire near the gate of the Friendly Arm Inn and getting to know a druid new to the area while visiting with other friends not seen in a while. As she was visiting, a quiet conversation happened inside her head. The result of that conversation led her to the outskirts of Ulgoth's where she spent the rest of her evening patrolling, ensuring the wilds were safe and pausing to look over the recovery of the small town and beach from her perch on a cliff high above.

Derik Ranloss, resident and business owner of Ulgoth's Beard before the demonic invasion and destruction, can now semi-regularly be seen in the town's main area wading through the rot and leftovers of the destroyed buildings.

He mostly at this point is seen clearing debris and rot that would poison the local pond or keep buildings from being repaired and rebuilt. There is also indication he has several wagons full of blessed soil to import into the town when it is cleared enough to help with the immediate farms and greenery restoration, but he has yet to bring that in.

While he is content to work alone with the one-horse wagon he's dragged up from the Bladestone Foundation to clear rubble and the like, he does have permission from the Dukes to let a few others at a time accompany him and does not likely turn down the help. If that restriction is even in place still...

Given the potential danger of pirates and scavengers with less than honest intent, he does remain armed while working.
