Spirit Shamans can't use gauntlets?

But it's an easily changeable "Feature".
This "feature" also prevents shamans from using fishing poles.
Just have spirit shaman class give both shaman proficiency and simple weapons proficiency. Giving both does not change much aside from giving shamans access to maces, sickles, morningstars, and heavy crossbows. And considering how everyone considers shamans underpowered anyway, I don't see how that breaks balance in any way.

The next update will include granting SS Simple Weapons Proficiency.
Local testing indicates an existing SS will not have the feat. It may show up on next level-up. Otherwise, existing SS's will need to RCR to take advantage of this change.
Not a big deal given we also changed the Lore/Knowledge Skill.
