I have to say I have little idea on the matter as I came back recently, has the server ran significantly slower since that system was added ? I didn't see any difference personally but memory is a fickle thing

i'm glad range ab penalties apply to mobs as well as pcs
it makes it a tad more realistic...just a tad. too much realism in a fantasy game is bad
stepping behind a dwarf dd in my party, to make it harder for enemy archers to hit me? awesomesauce. and makes sense
of course it also makes the mob harder for me to hit at the same time, IE same ab penalty of 2, but that's fair

this reminded me of tanks on tera
