Moonsong wrote: Wed Jun 08, 2022 6:48 pm So, the time is getting close. as i heard. So giveni can't sleep,i decided to post a request here to the staff for more informations:

To my charcater the ToT willl for personal reasons have double inpact.

1) She is an innate spallcaster. But i read arcane magic becomes wild magice and divine magic falls away, unless the deity of the character is near. How exactly does that effect bards?
2) With Mystra dying, and dpending how it is communicated to the players and their characters, there may be a loss of faith. How can we players find out about it?
Bards use arcane magic, and anything that affects arcane magic (such as wild magic) will also affect bards.

Mystra's death will likely be noticeable in some way.

Regarding ToT as a whole, an announcement post on it is forthcoming.

Thanks for the informations. A question about Mystra's death. What does "in some way" mean? Will there be a post, that explains it? Or do we have to research first so someting like that?

It'll be public knowledge, no research needed.

How about Garagos' resurrection during the TOT. Will that also become public knowledge?

not so sure about this. tot was alright, but, in every campaign, it is decided what to leave out, and what to include. loss if mystra is part of tot, so, meh, i dunno

if i had a cleric of mystra i wouldnt want to reroll. i dont. but if i did

a personal example: in every single PnP campaign i've been in it was decided not to include the spellplague. never happened. no dead magic areas. no spell-scarred

up to us as a community i guess to think about what everyone wants, and give that serious thought

Um... I'm not aware of Garagos being dead currently, he's an exarch under Tempus' wheelhouse (sorta). I can't remember if he gets a slight upgrade or not, but AFAIK, he's not dead currently and is an avatar around in the ToT just like everyone else.

From Forgotten Realms wiki:
History

During the age of Netheril, Garagos was part of the Netherese pantheon and was known as Targus. Some time around or shortly after the fall of Netheril, the interloper deity Tempus managed to slay Garagos. Survived by die-hard followers in several regions surrounding the Sea of Fallen Stars and a church in Westgate, Garagos mysteriously and unexpectedly reappeared in Westgate's harbor during the Time of Troubles. Much quicker to anger and slower to show mercy than he was before his death, Garagos found most of his followers in brigands, bandits, and priests of the Deities of Fury who paid him lip service in battle.

In 1368 DR, Garagos appeared personally to slay a marilith named Glackzana who was building a temple to herself in his guise.

This always read to me that he's still technically alive but his faith is small. Though I can also see it as meaning he died and his faithful remained as such which brought him back at ToT? I dunno... As of our server canon he's a selectable god for divine casters so I'd say he's currently alive, though could be argued I suppose that it's another god giving him spells.

According to 5th Edition:
Long though slain, Garagos reappeared in the recent past, either awakened from ageless slumber or resurrected by a devoted cult of worshipers. His newest incarnation seems utterly devoid of the craftiness he once possessed. Instead, Garagos is a being of idiot rage, a violent six-armed whirlwind of carnage that seems to exist only to destroy. It is believed these changes to his mentality forced him to move his divine realm from chaotic Limbo to the more dour/insane Pandemonium, either that or he was secretly in love with someone (it is not mentioned who, although his clergy are forbidden from acting against the church of Shar) and the move to Pandemonium represented him giving up all hope. Others say that Garagos had just started his decline into pure evil, with his realm moving with him.
Not arguing, just pointing out the canon. I'm sure the servers canon is slightly different to allow clerics to get spells, etc.

Given I've been in events that were set by machinations of Garagosian worshipers and stuff, it's safe to say in server lore he's... existent.

if tot is to happen, perhaps it should be implemented only in the form of dm events, and not mechanics. being a pw, players and characters still need to do their day by day activities

Surprisingly many posts in the thread expressed the wish to have a lore accurate or mostly accurate tot. I wouldn't mind it personally.

mechanically keeping it to event only would allow for player choice as to how much tot would effect their characters outside of the event
