Ant Burrow
So after doing some research on this area it looks like retired Master Builder tfunke made this area with the intent of it being a place to level up for new Orc characters.
Here are the main issues I have with the area:
1. There's no quick exit-only transition once you finish the area. That's enough to make sure no one ever does the area more than once for sure. Its somewhat infuriating as a level designer myself.
2. The ants are too few and far between to be a place to level. Its an ANT BURROW, where are all the ants?
3. Having a CR10ish dungeon in a CR15ish area is ridiculous. From a building perspective putting a HIGHER CR dungeon in an area is acceptable but never a lower CR area. I get 30XP from the mobs outside and 8XP from the ants, for example.
See this old thread as well: http://www.bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=3 ... ant+burrow
These have been issues for years apparently, so I'm guessing it's never gong to be fixed which is a SHAME because with a few minor edits this could be a dungeon that is frequented a lot rather than a barren waste of an area

Ha ha. It's an entrance at the area with the worg riders.mrieder79 wrote:We have an ant burrow?
It is fairly underwhelming, as it is indeed guarded by enemies far harder than the ants inside. Definitely, running past the worg riders to get to the ant burrow is not worth it at all.

Re: Ant Burrow
What if the ant burrow connected from a different zone that was more appropriate for cr10 and worked itself to cr15 with an exit to the worg zone?

Re: Ant Burrow
a long long time ago when that ant burrow was not populated with the underwhelming ants I used to use the place as a hideout and plan secret plans to make the trust guild...that guild flopped and I have the phoenix company now but I remember that place fondly as a place where we could go and no one would ever find us because no one ever went there!
PS....somewhere in that burrow is secret plans that was secreted!

Re: Ant Burrow
The ant burrow was once attached—excuse the pun—to a large plan of Northern Region expansion, where both lawless types (read: Darkhold related evil types who wish to gain experience away from the Laws of Darkhold) plus the Orc/Black Orc playable race (that was in long development, once...), could level without RP hassle being in "lawful" lands.
There was a major halt in development roughly 1.5 years ago. Tfunke gifted the Server many new Areas around that time, which only a small handful made it in-game...and like is pointed out in this thread, the surrounding or connecting Areas did not. I don't think it is healthy to expect any changes in the future.

that's really unfortunate. It really makes me wonder why the owners of the server decided not to expand with tfunke's areas and effectively doom the server from any further developmentSteve wrote:The ant burrow was once attached—excuse the pun—to a large plan of Northern Region expansion, where both lawless types (read: Darkhold related evil types who wish to gain experience away from the Laws of Darkhold) plus the Orc/Black Orc playable race (that was in long development, once...), could level without RP hassle being in "lawful" lands.

If you're interesting in becoming a developer and help the server, you can apply here: http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?p=139#p139

Re: Ant Burrow
Sadly you would think this would be the case, but it is not. The problem wasn't lack of new areas, but rather lack of adding the new areas created.Considerate_ wrote:The more developers the server have, the more stuff happens
I made a new minotaur maze that was supposed to replace the current one, that was.. in my opinion, far superior to the current one. I made additional expanded areas to the lower sewers, including 2 new quests, which also never got added. As well as fixing the supposed 'broken' quest that is currently down there. These too, never saw the light of day.
As Steve mentioned, there were more areas than what I've just mentioned, that failed to get added. Hence I stopped wasting my spare time making areas/quests/mobs etc for the server.
These days, new areas and the like are few and far between. That could possibly change now that Duster has power to implement created things onto the server and less so from Luna (who I think was feeling burned out at the time, which I understand).

FWIW, there is a Client-side Auto-DL issue currently preventing changing anything requiring an Auto-DL. Working to resolve. But keep in-mind working behind the curtain is a spare-time thing for many of us on Staff.

Thank you for that explanation Duster, that clears up the why's for me
I hope a fix is found.
