Lunulata hails from an isolated area of the eastern high forest near the Delimbiyr River. Her home is more tribal in many ways due to isolation from the civilized areas. The community is home to more than 400 but fewer than 800 individuals. The community has existed since the fall of the crown wars 10,000 years ago. While elvish is spoken, it is a different dialect. Many words spoken as common elvish have been replaced, compressed, changed, or lost in Lunulata's native elvish.
While isolated from the civilized land they are not completely isolated from all communities. The elves of this tribe are in an ebb and flow war state with the 1000 Fists Orc Tribe. The duration of the orc war has created a hatred between the two races. Through this hatred comes brutality. Through this brutality comes more hatred. This cycle has continued for many thousand years. Developing a hatred that burns inside of them to unimaginable levels to outsiders.
While the orc wars dominate the lives of the tribe, battles with the Rotfang Gnoll Pack litter the history. The strength and numbers of the Rotfang pack grow to large numbers. But the anxious birth-righted leader of the Rotfang quells his own masses before they become a serious threat with premature foray.
The only other association with the outside comes by means of trade. The Stonehelm Clan of Bolfost-Tor in Greypeak Mountains trade iron and copper. This is a recent development to the tribe and relation development is minimal. But this recent influx of ore has strengthened the tribe's military 10 fold. The trade has also helped the struggling dwarf clan gain some stability in a difficult area.
Besides the orcs, gnolls, dwraves and sylvan creatures; the other races are stories told in history or lesson. A human is regarded similar to orc. And the other elf races as untrustworthy and deceitful. Dwarves are taught to be loyal albeit stubborn and wasteful. Halflings are not spoken of often. Gnomes would be dwarves.
Lunulata's Tribe is ruled by 12 druid mothers. The first daughter of an active mother is trained to replace her mother in the council. Lunulata's twin sister, Apidae is this dynast. Before someone can take their role as a member of the council. The druid to be must take a 100 year journey to gain the knowledge and wisdom needed to become a great leader. This journey is not taken alone. The druid's journey is accompanied by a most trusted and loyal warrior. This warrior must serve and protect the druid, and the task is regarded as one of the highest duties for anyone. Apidae's warden for this is her own twin sister Lunulata. The two were sent west to live out their quest in the troubled sword coast.
Soon after their arrival to Balder's Gate, Lunulata woke up one morning with nothing but a note written by her sister. The note reads, "Dearest sister. You are the most loyal, dutiful and dedicated warrior I have ever known. But this is why I must leave you. Your strength will shield me from the experiences I need to find. I need to know danger and how to face it. I know that you could find me. You can find anyone. You must trust my wisdom and not seek me out. Let yourself gain this same knowledge that I seek. Do not just do this for me. Do this for our home."
Lunulata, a woman trained to protect, is a child in a foreign land. Left to learn how to protect herself in this dangerous place.
