Question about bounties and RP-outs
Just a simple question that I wasn't sure where to place - feel free to move this topic if it is in wrong subforum.
What would be DMs approach to bounties and RP-outs? Do banished characters that somehow gimped their reputation in whole community can indefinitely RP-out whenever someone approaches with intent to claim such bounty?

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
its basically an assassination at that point and as long as a DM is there to oversee it, no rp out is required

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
To be clear, here: If a character has a bounty on them, anyone attempting to collect that bounty needs a DM present to officiate?
I'm not trying to be crass -- just making sure I understand what's going on.
Thank you.

As far as I can discern from the PvP rules, if -no- DM is present then regular RP/PvP rules apply to a potential violent engagement to collect said bounty. If a DM is present and you have been given permission to perform an 'assassination' to collect the bounty, the regular PvP rules are circumvented for that single engagement only which the DM will oversee.

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
right
no DM = normal pvp rules meaning they can opt out, if they dont and you get the kill take screenies
DM available and you are ok to make the attempt = treat like asasassination, DM will follow you the entire time to make sure its fair but if you can ID them you dont need to give them an out - so if they are disguised and you cant figure it out you cant just meta
tho depending on who and where, you may not need to worry too much about the sneaky part as with assassinations

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
Assassinations always need a prior request made.
You can't pick up a bounty IG, nudge a DM in a tell and have a character assassinated.
Normal PvP-rules apply all the way, unless an assassination request was approved via forums.

...which is what i said but in fewer words
only difference being a bounty being public knowledge usually, you can probably get away with a normal pvp encounter whereas with an actual assassination contract you cant
implying you already got approved to do it beforehand, but yes everything required for assassination would be required for a bountyBlackman D wrote:DM available and you are ok to make the attempt = treat like asasassination

Just so I understand correctly - I can pick up a bounty IG, nudge a DM in a tell and have a character assassinated IF a:Blackman D wrote:implying you already got approved to do it beforehand
DM agrees to it?
OR
Player that is to be assasinated agrees to it?

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
you would need to pm the DMs first and let them know your character is interested in attempting the bounty/assassination and they would have to give you an ok
when that happens it means the DMs know about it so when you happen to find one in game even if they dont know about it, they can look on the DM forums and see its ok so when you go to do the encounter you dont need to give an out
if you dont go thru the DMs then normal pvp rules apply, so you would need to rp hostility which would basically be letting them know you are about to bring them in for a bounty and if they dont take an out then you are good to go

Re: Question about bounties and RP-outs
OK thanks - sorry if all those questions seem silly but all this PvP seems complicated for a fairly new guy. I just try to learn the ropes to avoid any rule breaking.
