Humans suck in nearly all fantasy and sci-fi settings I looked at. Only settings they don't are those where non-humans are even edgier.Steve wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 6:52 am When you think about it, the only real experience we have as Humans is, wait for it, to role-play Humans. Trying to RP as something “exotic” is not as comfortable as it may seem on paper. Even when we are deep in Lore knowledge, read all the novels, AND have a healthy amount of skill in the dramatic arts (or not...), the templates for the non-Human options are sometimes soooo limiting, also boring, that in itself is a massive turn off.
And simply put, it’s less work in the part of the Player to create John or Jane Baldergate. It’s just a game that has only so much RL reward, and when it’s a game uses for RL escapism, that last thing a person is looking for is complexity and/or a demanding experience.
Make Humans Great Again!
Fixed that for you!
Agree with that! A good take
