Of Commerce and Sales

Unread post by Ewe »

1. Remove the lower gold limit (and upper?) for Mud postings. There's currently no way to list +1 items, or items with 0 cost, as well as SR items (too expensive?), and many other things low level players and the like would love to buy up.

2. Vendor max gold cap standardization. Why does CK pocket 300gp per sale without even a tax office, but Blunt gives 1400gp? It's a QoL thing to not have to constantly backtrack to the couple places that sell stuff for 1400gp, which was I believe the intent of having Blunt at 1400gp anyways. (Also, the magic shop owner in CK has a bizarre list of things she will buy, she won't even buy scrolls.)

I'd really like FAI to be raised back up to 1400, and for Nashkel to get a vendor that buys for 1400. With Soubar - Baldur's Gate - FAI - Nashkel, you'd have good regional coverage for good prices.

SR items have historically been bugged, as the property has an erroneously negative value, resulting in items with SR being worth less than 0 gold.

My understanding with the intention on the 500gp minimum is to limit the number of trivial items available - AFAIK, almost every +1 equipment (and many up to +3) is available from a vendor somewhere, usually an NPC of relevant trade. Since Mudd's has a limited number of consignment slots, if it were perpetually filled with things available from vendors randomized or rare drops would be unable to be listed.

She seems unusually interested in cursed items.
She has also been seeking a variety of gems and stones.

Well, there's a lot of useful things like elixirs, potions, scrolls so on that are below the gold limit. I'm also unaware of where you can buy all +1-+2 gear in the game, and moreover there's a lot of RIG stuff that's really good that cannot be listed, such as looking for specific items that just give skill bonuses.

It's possible to implement a new GUI, filters, more consignment slots, so on. There's no reason to limit our thinking on implementation.

I would be content with a universal vendor cap at 1200 or 1300 even. Anything that re-populates not-the-farmlands with visitors/characters would be a good thing... running into anyone in the civilized areas between BG and Nashkel, or outside of grinding/looting areas, has become exceedingly rare. Even the FAI is dead.

What we really need is a way to sort the store by "Time Listed", "Price", "Alphabet". Now that would be awesome. Even if it were just sorted by Time Listed that would already remove so much tedium.

There is still the Forums Auction House, where many players have listed items that can’t be listed with Mudd’s Consignment, or offer services related to potions or scrolls.

Additionally, low level gear and/or scrolls/potions can be sold at NPC merchants and bought by others at a fair rate (I buy scrolls and potions this way all the time to burn through the never ending waterfall of coin that this Server falseconomy produces 24/7/365).

What could be cool is, just like the NPC Gem Merchants, Sorcerer’s Sundries or a new NPC merchant could be put IG that ONLY deals in these particular wares and gives a better sell/buy rate.

I don’t know about you, but I think the limited quantity listing of Mudd’s is not best used for +1 gear that has so little value these days after the Loot Rebalance. And, probably will continue to lose value until a Enchanting System is put in.
