Forgotten City
I just want to state that the changes to this area are frustrating. Rather than replicating what made it objectively the best and most fun dungeon on the server across other areas, a decision was made to dilute it.
I understand the decision was made because loot and XP are culturally frowned upon, but, if something is extremely well received by most of the players, perhaps there should be more of it throughout the server rather than taking it away.

Re: Forgotten City
I'll say what I've already said in the discord channel. The Forgotten City was until today's patch the very best area that ever existed in BG history, and I'll start by thanking its creator, Banovitsky, for the very good work he did there. Next, I will say that this dungeon should have been the template to improve the rest of the server, which has always been designed in such a way as to make it a boring, tedious, long-winded, grindy, unprofitable, or inefficiently profitable, time sink. That was alright when we were still in school - well, not really alright, but it was tolerable because we were in our teens and twenties - but today we are adults with jobs and lives outside of this game, so it hurts even more; instead, the rest of the server is deemed fine and not requiring change and the Forgotten City has been gutted to become as bad as the other dungeons.
This dungeon was the best thing that happened to a nearly empty, completely neglected underdark in a long time. Not only that, but, I repeat, it could have expanded from there to become a template for the rest of the server. Now you take that away and we Underdark players feel slapped in the face once more. It was too little to make it good down there, but now even that is gone.

Re: Forgotten City
I ran my 30 bard in to see what had changed, and nearly died within 30 seconds, which is what happened before any updates
Needless to say I didn't get a chance to figure out what changed before high-tailing it.

Re: Forgotten City
Area used to be one of the few places that had so many mob nodes it felt like you were fighting an ACTUAL horde of enemies. Now it’s the same as all the other maps… you’ll probably see one… maybe 3 mobs at once… there were also alot of yellow name “elite” mobs that spawned there. Also gutted.Józef Taktyka wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 2:56 pm What happened to it anyway? (Surface player here, never played in the UD)
If you had a group who wanted a challenge it was the place to go because it had so many targets to aim at.
Alas though… people were saying they were having -fun- which is banned here unless a DM is giving it.

Re: Forgotten City
WTF. RiP Forgotten City I guess, that is a real shame. Spawns were toned down, I gather. I guess good dungeons aren't on the menu?

Re: Forgotten City
That is wrong, or if thats the case it is not the intent. Mob density should NOT have changed in the update. What was actually changed is the appearance of gold mobs, which created a loot fest. A few chests were added, gold mobs arent as many, but overall the mob density should be the same. AKA, you should still be getting a big group of mobs instead of 3-4, if thats not happening, it wasn't the intent and should be fixedRain wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:11 pmArea used to be one of the few places that had so many mob nodes it felt like you were fighting an ACTUAL horde of enemies. also mobs that shouldve been elites, like the orange name ones, are actually set as mini bosses and have guaranteed drops

Re: Forgotten City
Don't yellow spawns also spawn two normal versions of the blueprint as lackeys? That's been my experience. If that's the case then that might explain why removing yellow spawns reduced the spawn density.

Re: Forgotten City
From my time revisiting the area the density definitely feels gutted. Idk what happened but from a player perspective a part of the horde from before is missing. Im not a dev though so what I say of course isn’t fact but its not a lie either.

Re: Forgotten City
It's not a turn based RPG though. The realtime element is one reason I enjoy this iteration of D&D similar to the old Baldur's Gate game. Bring on the tidal waves of beefy enemies.
Hopefully thinning the crowd was some kind of mistake. It was a fun place when I got to see it.

Re: Forgotten City
I checked the area just today:

Looks like it's pretty lively in here. There should have been 6 more, but i killed them on my way in.

Re: Forgotten City
On the MMO spawner, yes. Forgotten City does not use that spawner, however, and there was no "normal version" to spawn in the first place. (And even the "normal version" now is really just the same mob, minus the gold name and the heroic mob rewards.)
