Incentivising Player Driven Events vs DM-Driven events
I really like the idea of player-driven events mediated by DMs and in an effort to increase player-driven story telling. Ideally the system can be can be similar to the Durlag's trials where, once a week, you can perform a level appropriate quest/mission/area and be rewarded with level appropriate XP and loot. I also believe that NWN2 scripting can theoretically track player reputation with different organizations. For example...
Raiding Caravans Bound to Baldur's
In which you can either defend these caravans for payment and reputation with Baldur'
OR
share in the spoils with the bandits and earn reputation with Bandits
Depending on your reputation, guards could attack on sight, merchants refuse service to low-rep individuals, and certain quests could become unavailable(underdark quest givers denying quests to overworld races).
I also believe that NWN2 scripting should be able to track how many players complete these missions so that the DM could moderate the outcomes for these conflicts which could open additional avenues for story telling. (new areas, new dungeons, new creatures)

The words "believe", "theoretically", and "should" are carrying an awful lot of weight there, I'm afraid. Rhi's been trying on-and-off to make a decent reputation system for years now, but all she's got is a bunch of plans with no real way to execute them.

A reputation system would indeed be an amazing thing to have, it just isnt as easy as wanting it - someone has to make it

I have a way to execute them, it's just a lot of work, so it hasn't moved forward.

My best guess - skill check with custom skill that cannot be upgraded via level up but can be affected by background?I have a way to execute them, it's just a lot of work, so it hasn't moved forward.

I suspect creating the reputation system is easy (most likely, a separate window), creating a satisfying implementation is the hard part.
I know this isn't the place to request access for but I do have a passing interest in programming and would love to look at/assist with NWN2 scripting (I just ask for a crash course).
I guess on the topic of encouraging/incentivizing player autonomy, I do have something particularly fun when it comes to managing conflicts, i just need time to gather my thoughts into a cohesive post

I of course love this idea, and depending on the severity the reputation level you might instead of being out right attacked by the guards but taken to jail/fined. Of course I also like the idea of reputation with nature as well so animals wouldn't see peoples of nature as hostile.=^^= Ect. ect of course for other divisions.
