Is it me, or is playing an appraiser no longer beneficial through Mudd's auction system? It seems to me now that the only way to make a noticeable profit on appraisers is going to be Mudd-less. To give you some numbers, you could previously expect to make around 30k on sale of Waterdhavian Ring of Endurance (why do people keep buying these?) and now it'll be about 15k. The Belt of Growth goes down from 23k to 16k. The less often sold Falchion of Uneering Doom goes down from 79k to 58k. I think at this point it ceases to be worth the time. Which is totally fine! If anything, it's a change that promotes role-play and disincentivizes AFK usage.
I think we'll see more appraisers try to peddle off their wares through active role-play, and it would be cool to see some gold sink taking advantage of this.

when you say "new mudd", do you mean thechanges to price limits/quantities? I don't use mudd regularly, and maybe someone can make a more informed comment, but I feel like its less about mudd or apraising and just straight up about how people arent buying things as much because they already have it. It's unfortunately a product of a stale and nonfunctioning economy, there is no item rotation so over time people simply accumulate everything

You are absolutely correct, but that's not what I was referring to. One of the ways to make money as an appraiser is to just buy the commonly sold items (I listed a few) and just keep selling them. It's surprising how often those items sell. Even with that, it just won't be worth the investment (a level 30 character) and the time/effort. The more an item costs, the more incentive there is to sell it in person and skip the middle Muddman.
You definitely nailed another good point in the last sentence. It's very difficult to buy anything for gold. People are more willing to give items away to those with a good reputation than they are to accept gold in any form because it's worthless outside of housing, guild halls, and perhaps DM events. I have no solutions to offer, so I don't want to complain about it in a non-constructive way. Maybe eliminating easy access to gold for appraisers is a step in the right direction. I certainly won't bother logging on mine.

Honestly, yeah. New Mudd is a little easier on smaller-but-riskier sales like niche consumables or loot, as 3% of that is almost always going to be less than 5k, and you only pay the remaining 7% if you succeed on a sale... but for big and safe sales (though I'm surprised to hear that epic items qualify as safe!), it'll cost a bit extra with fairly few advantages over old Mudd. The exact cutoff point is going to be 50k - postings for 50k or less are getting improved across the board, but past that point you're getting less revenue from a successful sale.
I do think it's worth the tradeoff, though, given that it should help drive crafters to list more (and more diverse) items on Mudd.

Good point. It should help out with the cost of wands, where profit margins are more focused on the quantity of smaller purchases.
It's slightly unrelated, but I'm intrigued by the changes to merchant buying price amounts. Clearly, this is an attempt to push traffic to BG Wide, getting people to mingle in that location. Now the poor souls who are not allowed to go to BG will be forced to visit S'shamath in order to sell their goodies at a fair price.

I totally forgot about Roaringshore. Good call, Sel! Steve, you are spot on. I think we might see more of that kind of role-play with the push to the Wide.
