also traps do not follow the normal 1 and 20 rules
you can roll a 1 and not fail and roll a 20 and still fail; critical failure with traps is when you miss the DC by more than 5 pts
so DC 35, you have 33 and roll a 1 which means 34 does not beat 35, nothing happens, you just failed
DC 35 and you have a 5... and rolled a 20, 25 is still not 35 and more than 5 so the trap blows up in your face

Ahh good way of explaining it. One wonders whether we should do the same with open lock. And then make the chest unbashable. And the lock frozen buggered and unpickable

well, a lock isnt gonna kill you so it hardly matters

Open Lock has no critical failure to it, if you added critical failure you MUST remove take 20 and replace it with take 10.electric mayhem wrote:Ahh good way of explaining it.
