Re: Server split
Are there warnings on the transitions between servers? That way people know to check their inventory to see if it is too full or not?

Re: Server split
Normally I try not too, but it's hard when you are out doing dungeons. The rogue is a consumable build, so it's a real issue with her. To earn gold... I'll carry even the 25 gold books in order to sell them... it all adds up.Theodore01 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:42 pm No one should ever have a full inventory - as a crash can always happen...

Re: Loot Rebalance
Kind of a weird thing happened yesterday with a mimic. Opened a chest, it turned into a mimic, grabbed my character, then the mimic happily went off to attack a party member leaving me unable to move and attack since the grab was in effect but the mimic was out of range. Maybe a minor thing but a little immersion breaking. Can it be done that so tha mimic also can't move while it holds character in place?

Re: Loot Rebalance
So I was doing the Imps quest and was in the Minotaur cave.
And after all this time playing this game I found a secret room with a chest for the first time!
Still some surprises even after all this time.
My character was Epic Level so I was looking at 40 gold pieces. But since it was such a momentous occasion of me discovering this hidden treasure I decided to open the chest. Plus having lock pick I was to earn an extra 14 exp pts.
40 gold and 14 experience- let the good times roll!
Well as it turns out, the chest turned into a mimic and hit me for 60 damage (non crit) before I could even blink. I said "eep" and tried to HIPS out of danger.
But the trouble was just beginning, as I sort of somehow got stuck to the mimic and could not Hips out. Boom- another 60 point damage hit. I was somehow stuck in its immediate vicinity and could not run away from it. A bug I think, as DiceyCZ mentioned. I had that oh crap spike of Adrenalin one gets when they suddenly realize they are about to die.
I would have been doomed too, but luckily my character was a Phantom. I was able to Ghost Step out of danger.
It went from an amazing discovery, to the disappointment of a crappy reward, then to me almost getting slaughtered, all in the span of 15 seconds.
I was mad at first but after I thought about it a bit I realized this was the most actual excitement and fear of death I have had playing this game in a long time.
D&D should have the possibility of death around every corner and danger with every action, not 'chests of never ending loot'.
Now if we can just turn down the homogenization factor a bit and turn up the danger.

Re: Loot Rebalance
Thank you! That was exactly the intention of that encounter. (The behavior there was not a bug; the bug is that the Mimic is able to walk away from your PC while you are glued to it.)Tekill wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 5:44 pm I was mad at first but after I thought about it a bit I realized this was the most actual excitement and fear of death I have had playing this game in a long time.

Edit: There might also have been some less-than-subtle clues that warned you that you were in danger.

Re: Loot Rebalance
Interesting, I didn't think broken items were in the loot table anymore unless you broke something in the chest...

Re: Loot Rebalance
Is it possible the player just before you bashed the chest and it's their leftover broken item? I know un-taken junk items from the last player's loot are sometimes still in the chest when the next player opens it

Re: Loot Rebalance
Items can break if you triggered the trap even if you didn't bash the lock too, so that's also a possibility.

Speaking of things left in chests by other players.
Would it be possible let players add something to a chest, without that removing the roll for loot for other players?
I occasionally dump unwanted items into chests when looting (rather than make a campfire). Unfortunately that seems to mess with the loot generation for the next player, who then only get the items I left behind, rather than the chest generating new items.
Being able to leave items behind for others to find in a chest should still be possible imo, but it shouldn't interfere with new items being added to the chest.

Re: Loot Rebalance
It was not our intention that chests would be used as trash cans, but I was not aware this would interfere with the loot for other characters.zhazz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:29 am Speaking of things left in chests by other players.
