Re: Northlander Hewing
I totally miss the on hit properties. Damage is great from a barbarian standpoint not even mad about AC malus if we can get them On Hit properties back. They were SPICY!

Re: Northlander Hewing
I don't think anyone is claiming that Northlander Hewing was in need of down turning, but rather just asking if it is possible that it was overtuned downward. After having played with it for the last 10-15 levels at this point I am inclined to agree with Steve. In its current iteration it isn't worth the loss of the attack and the ac bump, at least for me. Just a single voice in the wilderness though.Ewe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:28 am Yeah NH + ICE is ridiculous. An alternative approach was to make NH a proper "mode" and thus not able to be used with ICE at all. This is where it landed instead, though.
We ran the numbers and there were a bunch of charts and spread sheets, etc. I don't have those handy, but basically in almost every case for content on our server you were seeing a very high damage boost for a single pre-epic feat, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
An always on feat giving 10-30% bonus damage for a single pre-epic feat with no other feat prereqs allowing huge synergy with ICE was simply over tuned and limited design space for future martial feats.

I believe the whirlwind/bleed/knockdown all still function. At least they do for me. If that is what you are referring to.

I am not seeing any notes of it proc'ing or effects while using last night. I think the animations are still there but are not actually doing anything.

I don't see it in combat log but I see dmg pop up on multiple mobs for whirlwinds and I get the message for slamming the ground and seeing knockdowns for blunt.Calodan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 3:26 pmI am not seeing any notes of it proc'ing or effects while using last night. Hmmm I will test some today but I am almost positive my NH isn't working right.Wyatt wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 3:28 pmI don't see it in combat log but I see dmg pop up on multiple mobs for whirlwinds and I get the message for slamming the ground and seeing knockdowns for blunt.

Re: Northlander Hewing
The effects of NH are working, at least for Piercing weapons dmg (it shows up on my Shifter from time to time...but since the other day, I've stopped using NH). Like Wyatt said, you won't see any extra Combat Log info.

Re: Northlander Hewing
Yeah I figured it out. Between my Dragon Warrior elemental damage buff, expose weakness, rage and NH activations sometimes it just turns off for no reason. Has to be re-toggled

Re: Northlander Hewing
What applies to the two other styles, likely also applies to Northlander Hewing.
Some feats are considered spell-like abilities, and may therefore also count as spells thus deactivating the style(s).BGTSCC Wiki — Sembian Fencing wrote: Gameplay Notes
This style (as well as Athktatlan Triparite) will instantly deactivate upon casting any spell.

Re: Coming Soon: Epic Spell and Magic Updates
All in all, a rather solid looking set of changes, many likely well appreciated.Rhifox wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:35 am In the next patch, several changes are being made to epic spells to make them act closer to standard spellcasting and epic spellcasting rules. Several epic spells have also been rebalanced. These changes bring up some of the weaker epic spells while bringing down some of the more powerful ones.
One change that does confuse me a bit is
Doesn't this basically Longstrider for at most a 1-level increase? (P&P: +10ft/rnd, hour/level; BG: +30% movement, round/level).-- Primal Speed: Primal Speed now lasts 24 hours. It is mutually-exclusive with Haste-effects, though.
I can see that extended Longstrider gives utility at epic levels, but that makes it the same spell level for less utility at high levels exclusively, because they still have a 1-round cast time that substantially mitigates the low-level utility of a round/level speed boost.

Re: Coming Soon: Epic Spell and Magic Updates
I could bump Primal Speed back up a few levels due to the buff. The pnp version, which is level 6, is +5 Reflex and +10ft speed increase for 24 hours, but it also has the bonus of being able to give uncanny dodge/improved uncanny dodge if you have it active at the same time as other primal spells. Figuring out a good level for it when you remove the uncanny dodge part is tricky. Level 3 Ranger, 5 Druid/Sorcerer? Or 2 Ranger, 4 Druid/Sorc?
Longstrider could also do with something closer to pnp tbh. It's pretty worthless on BG since expeditious retreat is far better for the same level.

Re: Coming Soon: Epic Spell and Magic Updates
Out of curiosity, why not make it fully PnP-accurate? Is it balancing, or perceived technical limitations?

Good changes. IS there going to be an 100% RCR period?

Re: Coming Soon: Epic Spell and Magic Updates
Presumably it'd be easier for spellcasters to just have the feat swapped out if they wanted to change their epic spells.
