Tree Stride

1. Mark Plant sometimes saves locations to the location list and sometimes doesn't. I cast 7 times and 2 were saved. Of those, only 1 asked me to rename.
2. I wiped all my Leaf Holders and tried to start again (waited one reset first). I then cast Mark Plant in BG The Wide, which seemed to create the Leaf Holder named "BG City, The Wide" correctly.
3. I then travelled to Roaringshore and logged out. When I logged back in at Roaringshore a box popped up asking me to rename the location, with it prefilled as "Roaringshore". Thinking the coordinates would probably be correct (I have NEVER cast Mark Plant at Roaringshore), I renamed to BG The Wide.
4. Tried to Tree Stride to BG The Wide but instead got sent to Roaringshore.

Maybe just remove this spell entirely from the game. It's super frustrating, this is the kind of thing people ragequit over I already lost 15K just experimenting with it and I still don't have a single working location saved.

Edit: Just logged in and was asked again to rename the location, which has defaulted back to "Roaringshore".

I had, no issues with that spell, until now.

For saving a point for the teleport via "tree stride" / "travel by plant":
1. Prepare the cantrip-spell "Mark plant"
2. Cast the spell on the spot on the ground, that you want to save. (only outdoor-positions possible, so far i know)
3. Pop-Up comes up and ask you for giving it a name.

(No Leaf-Holder needed)


For teleporting via "tree stride" / "travel by plant":
1. Cast the spell "tree stride" or "travel by plant"
2. Pop-up comes up, where you can select your destination
3. Enjoy

Master Earth does need "mark rune" -> cantrip spell.

I am not sure how leaf holder or runes work. Haven't gotten into this because, as Sundown wrote, the treestride / travel by plant spells function just with the "cantripped" locations.

The leaves/physical runes are outdated, don't use them. The system works fine with just the normal way of marking on the ground.

No wonder it isn't working at all. I've been casting it on the Leaf Holders! Which works....but it doesn't add the locations to your Location List.

EDIT: The Leaf Holders are sold at Sorcerous Sundries if some benevolent entity wants to delete those Infernal Cursed Objects.

Note that Manage Locations exist for Runes and for Leaves. It's basically different feat for different teleport. As stated prior, disregard the items in inventory.

Note that the place you mark has to be walkable. You can sometimes mark the inside of a wall, but you won't be able to teleport there.

Tree Stride and Travel by Plant use Leaves. Everything else uses Runes.

Leaf holders and Runes are used for Earth Master and Teleportation Circle. They create reusable teleports ((Portals basically)). The way they work is as follows

Mark Leaf/Rune on the holder (While standing where you want the location set)
Cast any of the teleport spells, clicking on the rune/leaf to teleport to the location set on the Holder
If used with the Teleportation circle, returning to that location (From where you started) can teleport you to "Rune location" without needing to cast another spell.

Notes:
It requires 2 casts and 2 runes to make a two-way portal
Gold cost is 10000 gold per cast, so a two-way portal system takes 20000 Gold.
I do not believe they last through reset, but they do work ((Last time I checked was long ago, however))
With DM oversight, I believe it is possible to make a "30-day" two-way portal that would basically have to be added by staff.

Uses of such are creating portals to guild halls or such, though I haven't seen much use of it. This could be used with Guards and Wards to create a location for large-scale events of a "safe camp" or start of RP for building a mages guild hall or housing structure if you are buying a player's own House.

Kind of off-topic, but since you mentioned it, does anyone know if Guards and Wards actually work? Thought it's one of those DM spells that don't do anything.
